[BETA] Choose Who to Accept PMs From v0.2.1

Post by Thatbitextra » Sun Sep 11, 2005 1:39 am

Hi.
I have developed a MOD which enables each individual user to choose in their Profile whether or not they wish to receive Private Messages from all other forum users, no users, or only certain users. Admins and Moderators can still PM every user in the normal way, despite what the user has set.

Code: Select all

##############################################################
## MOD Title: Choose Who to Accept PMs From
## MOD Author: Thatbitextra < N/A > (N/A) http://www.thatbitextra.com
## MOD Description: Allows you to choose in your Profile which other forum users you want to be able to PM you.
## You can choose to receive PMs from either: Everybody, Nobody, Everybody Except certain users, Nobody Except certain users.
## Administrators and Moderators can still PM you either way.
## MOD Version: 0.2.1
##
## Installation Level: Easy
## Installation Time: 10 Minutes
## Files To Edit: privmsg.php
##				  includes/usercp_avatar.php
##				  includes/usercp_register.php
##				  admin/admin_users.php
##				  language/lang_english/lang_admin.php
##				  language/lang_english/lang_main.php
##				  templates/subSilver/profile_add_body.tpl
##				  templates/subSilver/search_username.tpl
##				  templates/subSilver/admin/user_edit_body.tpl
##
## Included Files: (N/A)
## License: http://opensource.org/licenses/gpl-license.php GNU General Public License v2
##############################################################
The MOD is currently in a fully working state, as far as I know.
I have also successfully installed this MOD using EasyMOD, though it is not officially compliant with it.

I'd be happy to hear any comments, whether good or bad. Also, if you could let me know if you use the MOD, I'd be grateful as well :)

The MOD description is as thorough yet straight-forward as it should be. I like what this MOD does and I intend to use it.

this one it is a MOD i'll use but i would like it to have options where the user can create a "white list" (user stops PM receiving but White List) and a "black list" (user decide to receive all the PMs but Black List).. settings on userprofile?

great idea, though

As am I. Thatbitextra should research such a feature -- it would be a welcome addition.

Thanks for your comments :)
I am in the process of adding an exception list. So you would select, for example, receive PMs form "everybody except..." , or "receive PMs from nobody except..."
At the moment I have only one list, so it's fine as long as you don't change from "nobody except" to "everybody except" or vice versa. So I just need to add the second list, make it user-friendly and test it.
Then I'll release version 0.2.0 :)
If anybody has any further feature requests, I'm all ears :)
Oh, and I changed the title of the MOD slightly.

I have updated the MOD to version 0.2.0.
It now includes the "white/black list" that was mentioned. The MOD is significantly longer now (still short compared to other MODs, don't worry ;) ), but it is still very simple to use.
If you have any comments or problems, post and I'll see what I can do :)

(cherokee red: Maybe, but I'm not promising anything, as I don't use the PCP MOD ;) )

PCP will more then likely have its own system in the future. Thier is little point in adding modifications to it ;)

I like this mod, and it works without problems for me.

One typo:

in templates/subSilver/profile_add_body.tpl

Code: Select all

</script>
should be

Code: Select all

//-->
</script>
without the //--> my IE displays nothing in the profil.

3di: How about "PM Blocker" or "Selective PM Blocker". I'd like to try and convey the fact the MOD can stop you from ever receiving PM spam :)

Jane Doe: Thanks for pointing that out, I've fixed it now :)
