Overhead on multiple queries is very low with modern RDBMs. The whole query count argument is overrated, as drathbun, it's a lot to do with the content of the query more than anything. Splitting a complex looping JOIN into two or three queries can yield quantum leaps in performance, depending on the makeup.

That said, unneccesary queries should always be avoided.

Hi,

Small update on this MOD.

It uses same approach as before, but known bugs are fixed. This caches SQL queries, adds SQL queries counter and page generation time to footer of site.

Download Here

I relesaed this version to phpBBStyles community some time ago, but I forgot about this thread. If you users have no problem, I will submit.

I hope you will see my request
My requests ::

1. Please make this mod can install without XS system [ many people use phpbb original cache not XS system ] .

2. Reduce useless sql query from original phpbb.

No, it is not normal. You probably have some bad code / MODs installed.

Thank you for this great mod! I just deployed it today and it's working beautifully.

However, I am wondering why this caching isn't applied to queries in viewtopic.php. Given that most threads will be read (esp. by spiders) rather than written to, wouldn't this be a good idea? Or am I missing something?

Might I ask what changes you made?

So is this stable enough to install on a live board?

Yes. A caveat is when you have other mods installed that perform similar queries that are cached with this mod -- those should be cached similarly. And this also goes for clearing caches whenever similar data is inserted/updated in other mods.
