[BETA] FreeCap Visual Confirmation 0.0.3

Post by A_Jelly_Doughnut » Sun Nov 27, 2005 9:46 pm

MOD Title: FreeCap Visual Confirmation
MOD Description: Replaces phpBB's png visual confirmation, which has reportedly been broken by OCR geeks with one generated by FreeCap 1.4. FreeCap 1.4 is GPL software.

MOD Download: Link
Current version: 0.0.3

Testing welcome. Not tested with EasyMOD, FYI. Should work.

Shouldn't this be called "Freecap Visual Confirmation" since it is really an adaptation of it ?

As for the name, That would make sense. Next version will be renamed I suppose.

You are initializing the PRNG after using its first output. It should be seeded earlier in your code.

Thanks Anthrax. Also noticed it wasn't using mersene twister in all places. Both will be fixed publicly soon.

I guess that due to my Visual Confirmation Issue nothing happened after I installed the mod - still having the annoying red cross. I hoped this will make things better but it didn't :cry:. Anyway, I just wanted to point to a small difference in the install file

Code: Select all

#
#----[ OPEN ]---------------------
#
includes/usercp_register.php

#
#----[ FIND ]---------------------
#
				if ($row['code'] == $confirm_code)
In my usercp_register.php it is

Code: Select all

				if ($row['code'] != $confirm_code)

Thanks for the note kulinar. I have that fixed on my computer.

Unfortunetly, looking at your other topic, I believe this solution also requires zlib to work properly. I haven't tested it without zlib, but I think I saw the author of freecap say something about zlib being required.

I have zlib disabled, and your Freecap MOD works just fine for me. :)

Nevermind, I think I found it. Wow. I opened that .txt file in notepad and it was so garbled up I thought it was some kind of programming jibberish. Opened it in Word and it's actually readable :) Sorry, I'm justa newb.

How do I install this? There are no instructions in the download page. I saw the sticky thread in this forum "How to add Visual Confirmation to outdated templates", but there is just a bunch of code there. Don't I need to upload the freecap files to somewhere? And once I do that, do I just change the code like the thread says or is it different because of freecap? And where are those files? In the style folder or phpBB folder? I'm running the latest version of phpBB with Galaxian style.

Thx.

Hi,

You need to upload the files listed in the [COPY] section of the text file, and replace the code as directed as well.
