problem making backup db file

Post by Colliope »

I'm trying to make a backup file of my database using phpMyAdmin. I've done this before and it saved ok. Now, however, it won't make a .sql file to save. No matter which "export type" option I choose (insert, update, replace) or which compression option I choose (none, zipped, gzipped) I get a file named "export.htm". "export.htm" is nothing but a page with a javascript in it and it doesn't appear to have anything to do with my database info. Two plain-english comments in the script say:

"we need this for Backwards-Compatibility and resolving problems with non DOM browsers, which may have problems with css 2"

and

"// Ugly fix for Opera and Konqueror 2.2 that are half DOM compliant"

I know this is not directly a phpBB question, but I'm hoping someone can tell me what the problem might be.

This is a screenshot of my export screen and the options I have checked:

Thanks,
Col

P.S.
I can't make a backup via the Administator panel in the forum because I can't get into the AP because of another problem. Arg!

This KB article has some good instructions on backing up:
Moving a Database

I also use this backup script:
PHPmysqlautobackup
phpMySQLAutoBackup automates the backup of your MySQL databases. The PHP scripts export your database (data and structures), compresses it into gzip format and emails it to you. Either enter the url in your browser or schedule it to run every day/week by adding it to a cron job.

Thanks, guys. I've read all that though and the problem is that it's not creating a .sql file, it's creating an "export.htm" file. I will keep the auto-backup script to use when I get this problem fixed.
