[DEV]Forum wiki

Post by Paul » Sun Apr 02, 2006 12:40 pm

MOD Title: Forum wiki
Original MOD Authors: saerdnaer and naderman, MOD Team members at phpbb.de
MOD Description: Foki revolutionary connects the advantages of a Bulletin Board and a Wiki. It combines Data Management, the strength of a Wiki, with Communication, the strength of Bulletin Boards.
MOD Version: 0.1.0 Beta1

MOD Download: Foki010_B1.zip

Demo Board: http://demo.phpmail.nl/index.php (You have not be logged in to post)

Original thread: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=309094

The concept is quite simple: Users with the AUTH_FOKI permission see an additional checkbox below the posting textarea which says "This post may be edited by other users". By default this permission is given to everyone who can post in the forum. If this checkbox is checked the post can be changed by all users with the AUTH_FOKI_EDIT permission, defaults to all users who can read.
These posts have a revision history, you can diff between different versions and return to old versions of a post. A little line below the post tells the user that he is allowed and encouraged to edit this post.
The page index containing all foki-posts in alphabetical order can be reached via the top menu icon. The page index includes a search for foki-posts. The MOD also adds a new selection to the search page so you can select whether you want to search in foki-posts only.
On the top right of the index page (below "View posts since last visit" and "View your posts") you can find the "Foki recent changes" which lists all pages which were edited lately.
Inside every forum there is a "Foki index" and "Foki recent changes" link above "Mark all topics read" to get to the index/recent changes for only that specific forum.

Please report bugs to me at this topic. Thank you.

(I have permission from Naderman to take over this mod.)

I hope this mod is fully intregated into phpBB but not in the forum it self. I would like to use as an seperate application.

What you could do, is use Foki and only give a specific Forum the right to create these Posts. Maybe that could be your solution

@QO, I has found the bug that the revision isn't changed.
Find at posting.php:

Code: Select all

$select_sql = (!$submit) ? ', t.topic_title,
inline find:

Code: Select all

t.topic_title, p.post_foki
Inline replace with:

Code: Select all

t.topic_title
find:

Code: Select all

$sql = "SELECT f.*,
inline find:

Code: Select all

f.*
inline after, add

Code: Select all

p.post_foki,
Can you confirm this is working? (For new edits only)

EDIT: I think, this isn't the best fix. Don't aply this. It gives more problems then it fix.

EDIT2: Sorry, this fix work correctly, it was my stupid thing (I must read the mod instructions correctly :D).

ok, the "History" gets shown now, but still not 100%

Image

The options at red should be changebale horizontaly, but one can only change them verticaly

The blue is the Post it wants to compare and shows, but the green one is the actuall foki-post (not the blue)

It woulnt surprise me if that is due to a database-problem, as still sometimes have problems due to a crash.

Thanx sofar

@ Muiter

use the Sub-Template Mod and give the Foki-Forum a different Style, e.g. from your homepage. Then hide that forum and make a link from that homepage to that Foki-Forum. Your normal Forumusers woulnt see the the Foki-part and with the different tpl's you can delete the header/footer etc.

That should work then like you need it.

@ paul.

I think that the rest of my Probs are databaseprobs that are not Foki-related. I'll check on that first and see if that solves the rest of my Probs.

Yes. See also my demo board. One forum is as wiki, the other not.

Hi

I have a few suggestions what one could maybe still add
  1. Mark the Post as unread, sothat everyone knows that a change has taken place
  2. Move the Post in viewforum to the top when changes have been done.
  3. Add a Foki-Sticky to the Titel in the Forum.

QO

PS @ paul, my last problem was the db, so its working fine now

You may be interested in my mod at: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.ph ... 39#2093639. It is also based on Foki, but is now stable and submitted to the MOD DB.

Thanks, Luke
