Upgrade help! 2.0.18 to 2.0.21

Post by Lonewolfwd » Mon Jun 19, 2006 5:49 pm

I have done several udates on a couple of different forums with no problem. I have also updated the current forums I'm having a problem with now but never had any problems before.

Nothing had been changed but when I did the update today and then went to install/update_to_latest.php I get the following error:

Code: Select all

Updating version and optimizing tables

Progress :: . . Done
Result :: Some queries failed, the statements and errors are listing below

    * Error :: Table 'mydb.SESSIONS_KEYS_TABLE' doesn't exist
      SQL   :: DELETE FROM SESSIONS_KEYS_TABLE
When I went to my forums I received a page that said "message_die(). check to make sure message_die() was not added at the end of the tail page".

Any ideas?

Table names in ALL_UPPER_CASE means you did not upload the current copy of constants.php to the site... it's missing a key define. Assuming you've got MODs installed, compare the version that came with the upgrade to what you're running now, and add the missing line for the SESSIONS_KEYS_TABLE.

Thanks very much espicom, that took care of the problem.

I have a new question now. I just aquired another forums yesterday evening. I got to looking at the difference between the forums I just aquired which has been running for well over a year now and my other forums I have.

In the General admin area under configuration I have noticed that there is a lot of things not there that is in my newer forums. Just to list a few things out of the many there is no Enable Visual Conformation, Allow automatic logins, Automatic login key expiry along with some other things that are missing.

According to the forums they are current with no updates available. Now can I just download the current full version and install that but still retain all the post and members?

Thanks.

If you replace all of the files except for config.php, you can then go to http://{your_domain}/{forum_root}/install/update_to_latest.php and it will update the database structure to 2.0.21. Then just delete the install and contrib directories.

This is the best way for updating when you are not concerned about maintaining mods.

using any control-panel install/update is like shooting yourself in the foot. It won't kill you, but you're really going to hobble around until it heals.
Using the wrong tools (Front Page, DreamWeaver) gives the same results

Thanks jwunderly, I'll give that a try.

I'm not worried about retaining the mods or anything just the members and their post is all I want to keep...I'll redo the mods afterwards and make it the same as my other forums then its easier to take care of. :)

That worked perfect jwunderly, Thanks but now I have another problem. I'm about to wipe out these forums and start from scratch.

Since I done the full update that jwunderly suggested which fixed one problem but created another. When someone tries to register now it comes up with the following.

Code: Select all

Could not delete stale confirm data

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 1146 Table 'mydb.phpbb_confirm' doesn't exist

DELETE FROM phpbb_confirm WHERE session_id NOT IN ('0dcf47e23ac58333caab6e9c8f5325bb', '0f1a24b3eab2ab78c54783275a4dd2ba', '0f6fc063b88ec3ded6ac52b14936b44b', '1333316493a06fe8fb6f2c70fd6ff247', '14d1ffb5f73f5fd98e613577812b202b', '157a4e4d587adcd0abe107dae51ea22b', '15bd7969d82f15e673e07a8a158bb8d0', '16b9d196f01f5377d7b2babac9f94e29', '180904ff88b8ca4c77e712072c27f244', '1d4d00d54b4e28d7c82515b0cd14ae56', '1e1c562b8f47321d7d19a59af72ca201', '33b2ce7f49b4b1869a2d7b80fb892120', '3528ec193914f5c6c466b67c746a9da3', '390a4f03204da7167ab225bd2411412a', '402bb8e50e7c9f1c24a8f8a3d862087b', '40c30e107e6f991cd0ea287780406800', '4574c8e30f017ef4e07c10ba53d29c1e', '47373ec9fcdad037a4d0acc6dd9303f1', '4991f15b98fbbf5ea82b52e1dff93fa5', '49ff89eb7e2d96afddac41135623b78f', '4c4f74ba7dc206e3436b155df4999f67', '4d8839d0644ad336e3758917190c5ca7', '56e1a13e49719fc0ac642c0985183709', '594021520eaac43fd877ea7efdcc5462', '65b4e2e1ccb9f4242fc152a63b5c8a77', '774cde841e65606f0f0d8d760f345191', '7850d8f56a493082c81951fa35e8de7e', '7deb20f4a31153e339498faff48e1128', '83579eb1d59230a36b79fe4766fddf61', '87a6c8c105ad619e87eb50e259e40c42', '922acd6999eb3eb67fa5c3c0021775f0', '98a6e0e783cc834321df3c56e138ddd1', 'a44c577f2e1bd79572a13ebf4c276156', 'aa3fcbf45f1b8e19d84a62f578607d61', 'af9344ebe1967045d2c44ecf3e5751e7', 'b0a612c9a96c6719d9a9713de9e83ea1', 'bae6d8b9416fff92c64f3318eb7c1c9c', 'bd4982b91b704b2d9ef2a6dd9d35da1c', 'bfba77241bbf052d09e67fd322050bdc', 'c3f939a6dd5eb0ad2d1a028bfec59dc3', 'd1935d553e1c9c8e97ea5434e645293e', 'f427eb9c71032e3fedb0cb78db5b6a0d')

From what I gather its telling me that phpbb_confirm isn't in my DB. I went to look and its there. What would cause this and whats the easiest fix?

From what I understand they was told how to get the visual confirmation to show up in the configuration of the forums, and afterwards when the visual confirmation was enabled they received an error simular to the error I got when someone tried to register. They went back and undone what they did.

So I guess what ever got done must have gotten messed up when I done the full update.

do a repair on the database from phpmyadmin or whatever you have.

if that doesn't work, ask the host to try and fix it. the myd part is something that the host has access to.

Thanks for the info Lumpy Burgertushie.

I had contacted the host since they run webmin and the only thing I have ever dealt with with is phpmyadmin. From what I could see I have very limited use with the webmin thats installed, basicaly create new, edit current and delete.
