MOD Validated/Released

Notes:
This MOD should be very useful for admins as it provides download links to the latest phpBB packages in the forum ACP index page.

i hope this will be helpful to admins. the only problem is that i doubt anyone would specifically look for this type of mod.

Looking at the code in templates/subSilver/admin/index_body.tpl, we won't be able to tell whether or not we installed this mod correctly until a new version of phpBB is released. IOW, the links will not appear in the ACP until the board version is out of date. Am I correct?

If I'm not correct, then I obviously made a mistake in my installation, because I don't see any change in the verson info in the ACP of my board.

you are correct, in a way.

the MOD is designed to only display the update links if your board is out of date.

however, if you wish to see if the MOD was installed successfully, you can go to your database, go to the phpbb_config table and find the row "version" and manually change the number from ".0.21" to ".0.20"

then in your ACP index, you will see it telling you youre running 2.0.20 instead of 2.0.21 and the links will be provided.

when youve made sure that its been installed successfully, you need to change the number back to .0.21

hmm, i wonder if anyone actually had this for the update.

i think more people would appreciate this MOD if they knew about it, but unfortunately, i think this is the type of MOD that would need to be included in an actual phpBB update. (or possible in the 3.0x version)
