BLOB/TEXT column 'attach_comment' can't have a default value

One thing I should note, when I install MySQL I chose for it to use utf-8 for multilanguage support. Would this cause complications? Looking at the error I can't believe that would be the case. I've also tried to 'restore' the .sql file under install/schemas via MySQL Administrator with no luck as some tables did not import in, even when selecting latin1 language.

Any insight into how I can get this install to work would be great. I've already quadruple checked my php.ini settings, my iis extensions setup, etc. I also gave iusr_ modify permission on config.php and the install directory (just incase it would help, it didnt).

I would be inclined to think that it is something to do with your Windows server. I have installed it on a Windows PC but with Apache server and MySql 5.0.24 withou any problems.

You could try editing the mysql_schema.sql file in install > schemas by removing "default '' " for that field. If that works then I would put in a bug report.

i believe you are trying to install the cvs (or snapshot) version.
i'm almost certain this problem was already reported and fixed, ( http://www.phpbb.com/bugs/viewreport.php?b=4700 ) so i would suggest you'll get the latest cvs and try again.
if you are using a snapshot, make sure it is no older than last night or so.
good luck.

Thanks.

Had to remove forum_parent line out of the csv for it to work, but I just manually entered it through mysql administrator after the installer did its thing :)

Playing around with the forums now, I like where it's heading.

-edit-

I had to add another column entry for "post_encoding" under the phpbb_posts table. Added as VARCHAR(12). Otherwise, when I tried to post, I got a debug error saying that no such column existed :)

If you have errors installing due to the schema, please check it against the latest CVS (I'm assuming you're using CVS rather than B2 from the error in question) and file a bug report if it exists in there

Hmmm. Just had exactly the same error trying to install a local copy of beta 2.

WinXP Pro
IIS5
MySQL 5.0.26
PHP 5.1.6

This is on a new installation of PHP/MySQL, which I successfully installed phpBB 2.0.21 on just a couple of days ago.
