Registration all of a sudden not working ..

Registration all of a sudden not working ..

things have been working fine since the beginning .. however now anyone who tries to register gets this :

Sorry, but this username has been disallowed.

I tried it myself with a different username and email and got the same thing. Not sure what to do?

I have NO mods installed, style is current version of igloo.

Check that your disallowed username list does not have say a * in it.

Im thinking that is not it .. I have NO disallowed usernames at all?? now what?

If you have phpmyadmin then go to the Table phpbb_disallow and Truncate it.
That is empty it - do not drop it.

Hi Jim .. im not sure what you mean by phpmyadmin ?? where would I find that? I have looked in my forums/admin folder but its not there .. not seeing it in my admin panel either?

phpmyadmin is a tool provided by your host to administer the database and is usually accessed via the hosting control panel.

my server guy said this:

in the secion you mention .. .the only think I can delete is a * which could be a wildcard to block everything...

can you ask for more clarifcation what to change\edit when looking at in php admin.

okay i am in the phpmyadmin myself now .. Im not sure what you mean by trunicate .. or what im supposed to be looking for and how to 'fix' it.

Please at least read my posts. :evil:
I asked you to check that there was not a * in that disallow list.
The "*" is a wildcard and as it is by itself it effectively will disallow all usernames.

The word is truncate and it means empty.

AND also that is exactly what he did do .. but it didnt change anything .. tried to register and got the same error ...

I rather suspect that that table still contains such an entry. Did he find an instance and remove that row or did he truncate it - delete all the rows in other words?

He did not drop the table and it has been removed .. we still get the error:

thats right Jim .. exactly .. and im still having the problem NOone can register. Im just not sure what else to try?
