Post by ctroyp »

Is it possible to install phpBB3 in the root web directory rather than the phpBB directory or some other?

You can install it anywhere you like -- example.com/ or example.com/forum/ or example.com/communication/forum/ etc.

Yes you can install it at everywhere, as long as you chmod 777 required folders (will be notice when you run install script).

Out of curiosity, is there any advantage to installing the software in the root?

It just depends on whether you want your members to go to http://www.myforums.com or http://www.myforums.com/forums.

There is an advantage in that you can install multiple versions (phpbb2 and phpbb3) on the same domaine quite easily.

No advantage -- it's just personal preference about what's the main direction of your site -- are forums first or not?

If you install in the root, would you not have to change the "Script path", under General Configurations (version 2.0.x)?
