Would be better if blocks are movable :D
Blocks are very easy to move, just edit portal_body.html :D
Really!!! that sounds great. I just hope that what's easy for you is easy for me :D

How about adding blocks? how complicated it is?

I was wondering if anyone could help me with an idea I had...

I like the way the "News" block in this portal is set up, the only problem is I would like to choose exactly which topics are displayed as News. Instead of fetching every topic from a specific forum, I would like to pick which topics go to the portal as News.

I'm pretty new to php so I am wondering how hard this would be. Maybe something like a checkbox that I could enable when I am posting a topic that will be used as news...

Just installed this portal and it works great!

Except one thing: the top links don't show a link to the portal page, only "board index".
On all other boards it's like this: "Portal -> Board Index".

How can i fix this?

Big thx!

You've not followed the style install instructions in the style folder with the portal install stuff.

I think it can be done by creating a forum where the portal will fetch news and then move a copy of every post you wanted to be included in your news.

Mine has always worked fine too, so I'm sensing a theme here...

Also before installing any mods you really should read the thread first. You would then have noticed that the mod author hasn't provided any support on here for a long time due to them scrapping this version and starting work on 2.0 and on.

That sounds easy enough. Is there a way to create a forum that is invisible to all users except admins and moderators? That would basically solve my problem entirely.

The problem there is that the news posts being visible is dependant on group permissions, so if you have a forum that is only visible to mods/admins then the news items will only show for mods/admins..

I was thinking the same thing... How hard would it really be to add a checkbox to the end of a New Topic page that says something like "Use Topic as News Article"...

and then have the portal look through all forums for topics that are flagged as news?

This seems pretty simple, but I know very little about php so if I'm in over my head then somebody please correct me.

In the "News" section, is there any way to have the poster's Avatar appear beside (to the left) the text for each entry?
