Not able to "Install" my forum!

i cant figure why i cant "install" my forum. i went to the turtorial, put the information in and get the following error:

phpBB: Critical Error

Not able to connect to database.

am i having problems installing it or is it lycos? i activated my account already too!

if it is lycos then they have been down for 2 days now!

if your mysql database is hosted on lycos that's a possibility. Either your mySQL version was wrong, the database/host/user name was wrong, or your host is down.

hummm... possible. has lycos ever been down for 2 days before. i re-checked my name. i am using WS_FTP_LE. i have uploaded the whole phpBB folder. i have gotten to the installation screen... but its not working.

is there any other hosts out there that are better than lycos?
