What does relative path mean??

Post by momoftwo » Tue Jul 10, 2007 3:52 am

Before i can convert they want:

Board path:
This is the relative path on disk to your former board from the root of this phpBB3 installation.

I assumed they want to know where my old board is...

say it is http://www.myurl.com/phpBB

well i wrote ../phpBB for the Board Path...but it said it is an error

It says it could not connect to database. Am i doing something wrong here?

**Also, how do i close my board while converting??

Where is your phpBB3 board located? Also, please note that the phpBB2 install still needs to be intact.

You can disable it in the ACP, but that's really not necessary.

Try leaving that line empty on your conversion.
Board will auto be down while converting, it should only take a few minutes to do.

My phpBB3 board is located in public_html (same place as my previous forum is located)

my previous is located at:
/ home / public_html / phpBB

the one i am putting up now is located at:
/ home / public_html / phpBB3

also..i tried again and it said it was ready to convert...once i pressed the convert button to start, I got a whole mess of this error:

Code: Select all

[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /install/convertors/functions_phpbb20.php on line 406: phpbb_set_encoding(./../../phpBB/language/lang_/lang_main.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory

any ideas??

Also...how do i do the following?? I looked and looked..maybe i just dont see it:
You can disable it in the ACP

Board will auto be down while converting, it should only take a few minutes to do.
it wont accept an empty line. wants a relative path to former board

Converting from phpBB2. It sounds like something's a bit off, to clarify: you said that ../phpBB2 didn't work for your conversion? Was the error you posted above a result of that path or something else?

The two are completely unrelated.

No they are not, as this guy seems to be having problems with database settings.
Big deal he has his root forum as phpbb3 if database will not recognise it.
There is something wrong with his conversion settings on his new database in mysql.

This may not be right but why not rename phpbb to something like phpbbtest , then rename phpbb3 to phpbb his original root site.

No, that's not correct and will just mess things up further.
