The first two have spaces in the file names that will cause problems with the BBCode parsing. I'm not sure if there's anything you can do, either. I've tried replacing the spaces with "&20", "&nbsp;", "&#32;" and using {INTTEXT} instead of {IDENTIFIER}, but none of those worked. The player was displayed, but the video wouldn't load. At least you could click on the link to get the real Web page, though.

The third one is missing the "-483" at the end of the file name.

The fourth one seems to be a duplicate of the first one.

Re: Custom BBCodes - DreamHost

Update: I was able to find a solution using generic flv player code I found at http://www.phpbb3bbcodes.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=272. Feeling a little foolish.

M.
==================================
I need to embed flash video files into a phpBB3 board. I am over my head here, and cannot find (although I get close) in this forum, code that works. DreamHost hosts the phpBB board in question, and provides me with the following html that will play the video from a webpage:

==============================================
<div id="v8737">
<a href="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">Get the Flash Player</a> to see this video.
</div>
<script type="text/javascript" src="https://media.dreamhost.com/mp4/swfobject.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var swf = new SWFObject("https://media.dreamhost.com/mp4/player.swf", "mpl", "720", "499", 8);
swf.addParam("allowfullscreen", "true");
swf.addParam("allowscriptaccess", "always");
swf.addVariable("file", "http://www.videos.dcmoboces.net/videos/ ... 1_conv.flv");
swf.addVariable("image", "http://www.videos.dcmoboces.net/videos/ ... _conv.jpeg");
swf.write("v8737");
</script>
==============================================

http://www.videos.dcmoboces.net/videos/ ... _conv.html This URL will launch the video.
http://www.videos.dcmoboces.net/videos/ ... 1_conv.flv This is the actual .flv file.

The html includes the specific url for a given video file. Can this script be modified to allow the user to enter different file names as a variable? Needless to say, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can anyone tell me if this would work to embed a video via url from Dropbox's public folder feature?

Code: Select all

BB CODE USAGE:

[vidurl={TEXT1}][/vidurl]

HTML REPLACEMENT:

<object width="720" height="480"><param name="movie" value="{TEXT1}"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="{TEXT1}" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="720" height="480"></embed></object>

// EDIT:
Would it work better to just allow HTML in replies and embed via the <embed> tag?

hello,
in some cases we we need an image to be displayed instead of the link in post. I wrote a bbcode last night, as shown below

Requirement: You have to have an image in your forum's root folder or forum's images folder, wherever you like,
just write the path below where it say "source of image.extension"

BBCode Usage:

Code: Select all

[imagelink]{URL}[/imagelink]
thanks to AdamR for correcting me on TEXT and URL Issue.

HTML Replacement:

Code: Select all

<a href="{URL}"><img src="downloadImage.jpg"></a>
I supposed I have an image named downloadImage.jpg in my forum's root folder. You can change it accordingly

Make sure "Display on Posting Page" box is checked.

[ustreamchat][/ustreamchat] anyone? I would like to embed the chat into my forum so that I can communicate with forum members live when broadcasting on Ustream.
(I am looking for custom bbcode) to embed the chatbox into a forum page.
I searched this site and all over the web- other sites have it but don't list the code only the TAGS.
Also, any possilibity to add code for Blidgets? (http://www.widgetbox.com) ? to add TAGS for them?

In addition to this question, I need to have a live stream ready on my forum asap and the code on here does not work.
youtube and googlevid tags and code work great but you stream shows the box but will not play the video(or the page I have up that shows fine on my blogger site that displays a revolving pictures.

This is the HTML replacement I used:
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="500" height="390">
<param name="flashvars" value="autoplay=false&brand=embed&cid={NUMBER}"/>
<param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"/>
<param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"/>
<param name="movie" value="http://www.ustream.tv/flash/live/1/{NUMBER}?v3=1"/>
<embed flashvars="autoplay=false&brand=embed&cid={NUMBER}" width="500" height="390" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" src="http://www.ustream.tv/flash/live/1/{NUMBER}?v3=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" /></object>

I thought t had something to to with my host but everything else wrks fine(youtube etc).
THis is the stream code and I used:
<object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="480" height="296" id="utv117805"><param name="flashvars" value="autoplay=false&brand=embed&cid=5691497&v3=1"/><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"/><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"/><param name="movie" value="http://www.ustream.tv/flash/viewer.swf"/><embed flashvars="autoplay=false&brand=embed&cid=5691497&v3=1" width="480" height="296" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" id="utv117805" name="utv_n_368238" src="http://www.ustream.tv/flash/viewer.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" /></object>

Any ideas on this also?

Why not just do the following:

Code: Select all

[url=PAGE-URL][img]IMAGE-URL[/img][/url]
That allows pointing to a different image and linked page each time. Your code only seems to allow changing the URL linked to, using the same image over and over. That may be useful in some limited instances (like linking to other pages on your site or using a consistent icon for things like downloading), but probably won't be that useful in general.

actually I just figured out what was wrong. Plus I am not linking to a recorded page, I am posting a LIVE webcast page that I will be webcasting to you forum via a android smart phone that I have an extended battery for. I tak eht phone hunting with me and broadcast my hunts live as well as different events on my wain site but now will be able to in a forum that I made. The idea is to have a pc and a smartphone broadcast at the same place in 2 directions and when I need to go to an event at a big show I am going to I can take my phne with me remotely while leaving me pc to broadcast to both of m websites as well as display to people passing by themselves broadcasted on teh web.It shoudl draw some attention.Ihave been working on developing smart phone aps as well so it all tied together rather well.
I fugured out that the ID that I was using was the wrong one(One that I read to be used .Not I am looking for code that can change the frame size as well as the borde.The ustream codeposted that I have found so far is little.I am broadcasting on a large monitor at a show next week and have a large player with a small image.The code posted that I can find on this forum doesn't allow for larger frame size.There must be a way to figure this out.

I'm pretty much new to using phpbb forums, and very new to using BBcodes. a couple of weeks ago i copied and placed the BBcodes for youtube videos from here to my forum. They worked great, but today, they are not working and i've tried resetting the codes and watched a video on BBcodes, and tried what they said, nothing is helping and not sure why. Gone back to trying to set up these sames codes here from this forum, but still not working.

Can someone please help me understand what i'm doing wrong? It would be greatly appreciated. :D

How would I make an Hide Email button so that if people post their email address publicly on the forums it is hidden if you don't have javascript enabled? Kinda like what you can do through this page: http://www.projecthoneypot.org/how_to_a ... bots_3.php but I want it to work as a button and for anyone's email they might type .. For it to recognize @ and .

This is an attempt to keep members safe who insist on not using the PM system to tell someone their email address and don't realize the threat of email harvesters.

What code would work? I figure it should be simple but I don't know how to write any code.

I was wondering if anyone knew how to do a custom bbc code for a marquee/scroll that also worked on images.

I got the one that's posted, but have discovered it's only for text, as it also uses the text color function.

I'd like a scroll that works on text or images, and something that is firefox compatible.

Any help would be appreciated :D

Not without you telling us what your BBCode and HTML replacement is (and, ideally, a link to a specific video that is NOT working).

Which "one that's posted"? There seem to be several in this topic.

I can't tell if it's Firefox-compatible here (I only have IE for the moment), but my MARQUEE code scrolls images just fine. (You can get text color by using the COLOR tag inside the MARQUEE tag as my linked examples show.)

I still say that most users will find it very annoying (unless they still use MySpace :twisted:).
