What does "Link Forum" do and how does it occur?

When you create a new forum or category, one of the options there is to make a link forum.

It's just that. A link to an outside web page.

For examples, you can see my SV PPC test board. The bottom category has various types of links (normal, counted, password-protected and password-protected and counted).

Interestingly, if you hover over a link forum icon, the tool tip says "no unread posts". Can a link forum ever have read posts? If not, maybe the tooltip should say "Links to {URL}" instead (hovering over the link won't show the URL unless the link forum is not password-protected and not counted).

What does it mean if there is a question mark in front of a topic???

The ? icon is one of the standard topic icons available.

Any good posts on what needs to be modified to update/change these to something more specific about your subject matter of your forum?

I.e. car restoration site might have various parts of a car to choose from..
I.e. animal site might let you choose which animal your post is about, etc.

???

Also before I forget, why is there no alt-text for the built-in "Topic icons" (fire, star, radioactive, etc.)?
Wouldn't think help visually impaired 'see' the sight more easily with screen readers?

I'd like to change the icon in my forum from 'fire' for the first one, to something more appropriate as a 1st test..
I want it to show the alt-text when people mouseover it..

Upload them to the images/icons/misc folder
Add them in the posting>topic icons section of the admin panel

This topic is 11 YEARS OLD so I'm not surprised.

The icons are relatively self explanatory. Which one do you want to know about? The forums may not all be using the same imageset.
