I'm going to resuggest this as a possible option for the Statistics Mod? I noticed you have the problem with it being too general for member locations, so if you set it for the above then it can narrow down to specific answers which members must choose from - for example, tonight I made a custom profile field for members with a dropdown menu - they can choose what state they live in from predefined answers and its compulsory to answer when they register.

So if the stats MOD can work with this, it would be fantastic :) Of course it wouldnt have to be for just locations either, it could work for any specific question and answers created with a dropdown menu.

Maybe it is an idea to make an add-on, based on Nedka's Country flag mod? My board requires the choice of a countryflag at registration, so I think it would be possible to make statistics about that.

The idea for a custom field stats is nice, very nice.

As soon as UniqueTiger posts the new release, I will install this great mod ;)

In reply to the above two posts,
Thats precisely what I wrote in the first post near the download link that User locations is too vague and needs a custom profile field like country or city.

I'm overhauling the daily & monthly statistics so that would mean a delay of at least upto tomorrow until the next beta.

Another thing, what exactly are the wrong statistics? In which module? Can you correlate it with some time period?

Thanks

I've entirely changed the way the statistics for daily & monthly stats are calculated. I'm working on the install file. This is a bit more intensive on CPU since it calculates the date variables more number of times, but relatively low on memory too. So its give n take. All I can say is this new algorithm would make it more straight forward, especially if someone wishes to understand the code. (the MOD validators may be! :) )

I'll be posting the new beta in a few hours. All of the above bugs have been fixed. And since the complete algorithm for daily & monthly stats have been changed, this one looks more correct to me. (although I couldn't find any error with the previous one too!)

About the wrong statistics, on my localhost, it shows the stats correctly. I'll need to check more. I'd like to have .::Chico::.'s opinion on this whether he is seeing the same wrong stats...

Will get back when I find out more...
I just arrived in home. Later, with Beta2, i'm gonna test the wrong statistic thing with my DB statistic numbers.

Great mod, but I also noticed that the "periodic statistics" were not correct. Also for example number of users for each rank did not show. It just said zero for all. With the update, I hope there will also be an update instruction file? Thank you.

Are you sure its not shown? On my localhost, it shows the statistic... Please note that the ranks are the non-special ranks which are post-count based - like New member, Senior member, Advanced member and not special ranks like Site admin. However if all the counts are zero, it won't show the Ranks section at all. I'm attaching a screenshot of what it looks on my computer.
Yes new versions will have update instructions from last version.

Yes I am pretty sure it said zero for all post count ranks. I will try this new version and see how it works. Thank you for a great mod. You've done a superb job.

Version 0.1.2 (beta 2) released. The first post has been updated accordingly.

Changelog:
2007-12-06 - Version 0.1.2
  • New : If the requested month is the same as the board start month or current month then the daily and hourly statistics are accordingly displayed for the limited number of days. Similar for monthly statistics.
  • Improved : The daily and hourly statistics algorithms. Now consumes less memory (and possibly CPU). However its now more correct than the algorithm in 0.1.0 with absolutely few chances of error if any.
  • Improved : Other minor memory and processing tweaks.
  • Fixed : a number of possible divide by zero situations.
  • Corrected : the reported mistakes in installation instructions
Some special points:
I have no idea about the wrong periodic statistics as to where I went wrong. Anyway I didn't like the earlier algorithm so the complete daily & monthly statistics algorithm has been re-done all new. This looks more promising and clearer and also takes less memory.

@ azzurri,
About ranks, I've posted a screenshot above. I can't see where the error is as logically and according to the display on my computer it is correct. If someone else too reports the same error, I'll pay more attention. Please check and give me your feedback. Please note that the member counts for various ranks are only for normal registered users with such ranks. If it finds no such registered user with a non-special rank, it won't show the 'Ranks' section. But if it finds even one such member, it will show all the non-special ranks with appropriate member counts, some of which may be zero depending on your forum. I guess you should be having at least one such member with a rank, so that its shown...

As with the previous version, awaiting your feedback... :P

Ok,
you can see it with my liveboard database stats numbers:
http://emd-forum.com/testboard/fs.php

Let's see if we find any bugs... ;)

EDIT

Didn't find any in prosilver, now i'm gonna test with my liveboard style.

Another thing, for future versions, showing statistics with permissions rules, because private forum topics (for admin and moderators) are showing in statistics for anyone (like guests).

I want just to respect permissions roles. Set permissions specific to your mod i thing it's not necessary... ;)

Let's test a little bit more!

Great MOD, really. And working fine at Beta2, really great. Congratulations, TUT.

Great... I just looked at your forum statistics... I'm myself surprised it looks so good with all those variety of numbers and graphs.

The top user locations will show all locations at the moment... I'll try for a fix tomorrow.
I've also noted the age bug... Will try for that fix too!

In fact I'm uploading it to a live forum. Lets see how it goes there... The numbers are too less though.

@ .::Chico::.,
I'll suggest you to set the board start time to the time your earlier board was launched. That would make it more interesting.

@ .::Chico::.,
It seems you have not overwritten all the files. Please overwrite as many of the files have minor changes even the template files.
If the age '2000-100' still exists, can you please tell me the birthdays of some of those 16 members if you can find out... I can't think of any bug in that... I tried giving an age < 10 and it rejects such values. The birthday year dropdown doesn't allow more than 100 years. So how come it shows 2000?
By default it lists ages upto 100. I've taken this as the birthday year dropdown doesn't allow more than 100 years of age.

Yes, i've overwhitten all files, included (of course) template files.
What is the problem :?: i did not see any.

About the age, i can tell you 16 member's birthday, but, we have a few users that did not put their birthdate, so, i think this cou ld be the reason to '2000-100' problem.

(all ranks say there are 0 members when this is not the case)

I haven't upgraded to the new version yet though, so will let you know if these fix up.

I know I brought this same issue up last night but I also wanted to express my concern with it doing the same as ATM I don't feel comfortable having the statistics page available to general members/guests when there are moderator/admin etc threads coming up publicly in them.
