How to mark a Topic as solved [solved]

Post by Jotne »

I do see post here on the forum that is marked as solved.

I can not find out how to do it.
If I edit my post, I do not see an option "mark as solved" at the bottom of the edit page.
Is it only an administrator or moderator that can do this or can the poster do it?

(I have tried to find this on my own board, no luck)

It is the post icoms - situated on the post a reply page above where you type your message.

I have ticked this one :)

It did not mark this thread as solved. Only your post.

And I do not see it in this message. Only Smilies.

Then it might just be Merators who see those icoms - so you may need to set something in your permissions - I would suspect mod posting permissions.

It would be wery helpfull if I could go back to my start post and set it to solved, not just use [solved],
when may case was solved.

I do not see any post icon at my own board, I am the administrator..

This is how I would like it to look like:

they are part of the room setup in adminCP.

adminCP - manage forums - (Pick a forum - not a category) - Enable topic icons: yes/no

Not sure if this is the same. I still no she the "V" chekmark for seting the topic to solved.
Some trange that topic icon is not a global function. (have to go trough all forum manualy to set it)

As you see here, no check mark:

It's a custom icon that's been added to this site so we can mark solved topics.

You can easily make one and add it to your own topic icons.

It's only available to team members on here but there's nothing to stop you editing the title of your own topics to add [solved] if you want. It helps out greatly, especially when the board is busy like it is now, so we don't waste time looking at already solved topics.

OK here is the how-to for topic icons.

Create gif files with transparant background, size 16x16.

Make a icon.pak file.
Here is an example

Code: Select all

'misc/solved.gif', '16', '16', '1',
Copy the pak file to folder "images/icons"
Copy gif file to folder described in pak file "images/icons/misc"

ACP -> Posting -> Topic icons -> Install icons package
Select your pak file and select "keep all" -> Install icons package
Verify that all is ok and then remove the pak file.

I have added the solved.ico and a solved.pak file.

Hi

I installed this little useful Icon as well, however I found out that these "Topic Icons" never shows up in the moderator panel making mass deleting/amending impossible. We usually clear out topics after they are done/fixed etc..

Why are the icons not visible in the moderator panel? Any reason why phpbb went that route?
