Thanks for testing!

Hi, and thank you to work on a calendar mod.
Does your calendar are connected with à topic? I want to say, when i add an event on calendar, can i have a new post on a specific topic? (and vice-versa)

Thank you a lot

P.S.: sorry for my bad english

At present it's not connected to topics... but...
Gremlinn wrote: Perhaps once the calendar is released, someone could make an add-on that would make the posting of a message also stick it in the calendar and still have the separate function for adding an event without posting a message. I think that could be a good add-on.

Since yesterday was the first time people mentioned linking topics to events, and two people asked for it... I'm curious how many people are happy with the current demo and just want me to release it as soon as possible, and how many people need the calendar linked to events? Please take a minute to answer this poll here: http://calendar.hypermutt.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3

Thanks!!!

I took a quick look at this. Very nice mod indeed. If you do include the topic calendar I would like an enabled/disabled option in the ACP.

I'm still not sure if I'm providing the "topic calendar" - it wasn't in the inital design... but I'm curious if you want the option to turn it on and off - does that mean you plan to disable it if added - ie you don't need the topic functionality?

I could take it either way. I would use the topic function for some posts if it was there. If not, I can adjust. And, if it is added, having an on/off switch would be a good thing so people could have the choice.

And, I vote to release what you have now.

Glad to see an active calendar mod.

Here is an example of what I'm looking for:

Topic: The Field Museum
reply 1: there's a great display of robots on 01/01/2010
member 1: set the date on calendar and it becomes part of the overall calendar listing
reply 2: someone told me there will be submarines on 12/31/2010
member 2: set the date on calendar and it becomes part of the overall calendar listing

Instead of:
The Field Museum 01/01/2010
The Field Museum 12/31/2010

As you can see, it wouldn't make sense for member 1 and member 2 to create two different topics for the same museum just to add to the calendar. I simply find it more organized this way.

I hope my example makes sense. Thanks!

The example made sense... it sounds like you DONT want a topic calendar... you either need a post calendar, or you need the calendar to be independent (as it is now) and let the idividual members post events on the calendar (although the members would be responsible for including a link to the topic thread in the event body).

Wow, thanks for the quick reply! I think I found something that will work as I described, but it's only for phpbb2. Here's the one: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &sk=t&sd=a

Is your mod similiar? I think topic calendar is what I want and not a post calendar. Hopefully I didn't get myself confused.

No - topics are threads (in otherwords there are many posts/replies in a single topic)... what you described was you wanted multiple events for a single topic... because there's the main topic about museums then the individual replies are posts in that topic. You want the ability to make one event per reply/post, not one event per topic thread.

The calendar in the link you provided is a topic calendar. I've used it before, and you make one event in the calendar when you create the topic thread. Then you can't make anymore events when you reply. That won't give you what you need.
xnitelifex wrote:Is your mod similiar?
My mod doesn't have any support for creating events automatically when posting... so no it's not a topic calendar, however there are recent request for adding topic calendar support. I'm not sure if I'll add it or not so I'm gathering requirements from everyone's wish list to weigh the demand.

Great mod, i certainly will use it. If you decide to turn it into a topic calendar however then i won't use it. I have absolutely no need for a topic calendar.

I like the calendar as it is. I was saying if its built into this mod some administrators would want to disable it. I have no need for the topic calendar.

This is a superb Mod, but for my purpose it would be much better if the user could have the choice of creating an Event AND related topic to discuss the event at the same time without having to create both independently and manually link both together.

I see some people do not want this option. In my view, giving users a choice is a good thing, and it would be great if it was possible for them to easily post a new event with or without a related topic by simply clicking a box.
