Hi Stefan,
Thanks for replying so quickly.
This is the page link that the email for 'quote' 'edit' etc is pointing to with the error message
http://www.colchestercreativeshots.net/ ... f=6&p=1150
And this is the link that works in the 'Reply' action
http://www.colchestercreativeshots.net/ ... &f=6&t=861
Direct link to page
http://www.colchestercreativeshots.net/ ... ?f=6&t=861

Thanks for the info about the 'from' name in the email client. Yes that makes sense because I have left the name of the board blank as it interfered with the logo. I'll have a think about the best way to tackle this.
Many thanks,
Lisa

Lisa,

I need the links from the mail which do not work and the links from inside the forum (you must be logged in as admin to see them). Or do they also not work as expected? Then there's something wrong with your forum.

Hi Stefan,
Sorry for the misunderstanding but I must be having a blond moment :?
I thought I had posted the links in the email that didn't work and I'm not sure what links from inside in the forum you needed, however today it all works fine :) :) !!
Today the email link for quote, edit is
http://www.colchestercreativeshots.net/ ... f=6&p=1151 with 1151 at the end instead of 1150 :?
I have no idea why it should now be working but it is.
Many thanks for your help.

1151 is the number of the posting itself, this raises with every post which is normal.

Hi,

I instaled phpBB v3.0.0.8. I added the files (V20) to th root and I change the posting.php in the root as described. By the way I read the whole threat and henmedia.de.

My problem, I don't get any email notification for new topics. I even don't see any error. Email is well running, because for new user registration I got a notification.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Kind regards,

Andreas :?:

I am reading some of the posts here and they seem to indicate there is a configuration interface that does not require changing the code to select users/forums/etc.

Is there a GUItype configuration interface?

We have installed this and it is running but the changes we have made are in the code however this would be difficult (and dangerous) for our administrators to do.

Sorry, but there is no GUI for configuration (and no plans for this), just the config file.

thanks anyway.

FWIW - To make it quasi-GUI we set up groups that receive emails for the forum(s) and just administer the memberships that way. That is a way the moderators (or individual users) can select this service.

It is a really nice MOD.

Stefan,

Can you clarify where in the config file I would setup that posts only in certain forums would be sent sent to certain groups?

Upon trying to implement this It seems that when I set up to email to groups it sends an email of all posts in all forums. and that to select only certain forums I need to manually enter each specific recipient.

Stefan,

Possible security issue – members of a group receiving emails receive emails to forums that they are not a permitted user for.

We have a section on our board that only permitted (“permitted”) members can view/post and a section that any registered (“any registered”) user can view/post.

If a “any registered” user is a part of the group which is set up to receive emails from newpost2email, then that “any registered” user also receives the posts in the “permitted” forums even though they are not members of the "permitted" forum– thus eliminating the “permitted” function of the closed forums.

Changing the config options so that each group can specify what forums they receive emailposts from might be one solution.

Andrew, this is a tool for admins to monitor their forum easily, it was never ment to be for end users. So email recipients will see posts in all forums and also email addresses of all users.

The from address is taken from your phpBB3 configuration as I use the built in mail functions of phpBB3. I do not set any sender address.

Thanks for the reply.

That is too bad for my application. Any interest in making a forum/group config like you did for forum/specific-email?

If not, that's fine, just wondering if I should wait or look for other solutions.

Nice Code work.
