Re: User Notify Default Setting

Post by koutimanou »

Hello David,

I have changed the files back to their original format, and the error message disappeared in my ACP. When I reinstalled the mod, i got the same error message. But because I wanted to use your mod so bad, I reinstalled the mod one more time, but this time, I ONLY altered the INCLUDE files (the first 2 ones in the instructions). I didn't change the LANGUAGE- board.php file since it was the one that triggered this error (based on the error). I run the SQL as instructed, too. So once I was done, I created a fake user to see if I'd receive the email notification, and it WORKS!!! Besides, the error message has also disappeared in my ACP board, which confirmed that the board.php in the LANGUAGE folder was indeed responsible for the error message.
But I'm worried now: I'm 100% sure you wanted us to alter board.php for a specific reason. So do you think I'll run into trouble for not changing the board.php file in the LANGUAGE folder as you instructed? How important is this file and why is the mod now working fine without it? Now i feel like I'm playing with fire. Please tell me my forum will be ok.
P.S. Now that this is done, can I also manually configure the existing users' user_notify values in Mysql to 1 so they can receive email notification if somebody replies to their post ? My new fake user has his value to 1, while the others still have 0. So i guess I could manually change that...is it ok? Will it help?

Hello,
I'm pretty sure I did everything correctly and I went to the Settings page and changed the radio button to yes and then clicked submit and got this error:
SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

Duplicate entry 'user_notify' for key 1 [1062]

SQL

INSERT INTO phpbb_config (config_name, config_value, is_dynamic) VALUES ('user_notify', 1, 0)

BACKTRACE

FILE: includes/db/mysql.php
LINE: 158
CALL: dbal->sql_error()

FILE: includes/functions.php
LINE: 156
CALL: dbal_mysql->sql_query()

FILE: includes/acp/acp_board.php
LINE: 418
CALL: set_config()

FILE: includes/functions_module.php
LINE: 471
CALL: acp_board->main()

FILE: adm/index.php
LINE: 74
CALL: p_master->load_active()
Any ideas / help would be great.

Thanks a lot,
John

EDIT: Now that i think about it, I never did the MySQL part, "Purge the Cache," How do I go about this?

EDIT EDIT: Found it, forgot about the main ACP page. Thanks, great mod - it should be included by default.

Hi,
I am new on phpBB, and this was my first mod installation, but its not working.

One question:
Beside the 3 files edition we need to do (for me its 4, i have 2 languages), the sql query, and purge on acp , is there something else to do?
I mean, what is the modx.prosilver.en.xsl file for?

I have phpBB3.0.0 and no errors, just not enabled the notify option

I'd love to install this MOD but I'm in dread of making a disaster of it. Is it necessary to have Database access in order to install it ?

Yes - there is an entry in the config table

I've just installed this mod, and when I try to register, I get this;

General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

Column 'user_notify' cannot be null [1048]

An SQL error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact the Board Administrator if this problem persists.
Any help appreciated!
