The backtrace is the rest of the error page showing where the error occurred.

I'm not quite sure what you want from me, I've posted the error all ready, and when it happens.

Hello!

I got the same error mentioned:

Code: Select all

General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

Duplicate entry 'user_notify' for key 1 [1062]

SQL

INSERT INTO phpbb_config (config_name, config_value, is_dynamic) VALUES ('user_notify', 1, 0)

BACKTRACE

FILE: includes/db/mysql.php
LINE: 158
CALL: dbal->sql_error()

FILE: includes/functions.php
LINE: 156
CALL: dbal_mysql->sql_query()

FILE: includes/acp/acp_board.php
LINE: 418
CALL: set_config()

FILE: includes/functions_module.php
LINE: 471
CALL: acp_board->main()

FILE: adm/index.php
LINE: 74
CALL: p_master->load_active()

Can someone please tell me what went wrong?

The strange thing is, I never get that error again after the first time I tried to save te settings.

but
It still does not work anyway.
The "Notify me when a reply is posted" box is still unchecked, and I get no notifications when I send a test message.

Please help!

The sql error is "normal" with phpBB3 - if you add something to the config table and you have NOT purged the cache. After the first time that you run an update to the config table "it sorts itself out"

This mod is not retrospective - it does not go and change the setting for existing members - it only applies to new members.

Ok cool, thanks!

Do you know of any other way to put that notification box checked for all users?

I saw a tutorial that involved just changing a '0" to a '1'

I think you know about it because it was spoken of on this thread.

I saw no difference when I tried it.

Does this Mod apply to new members only as well?

Thanks.

To update the existing users, run:

Code: Select all

UPDATE phpbb_users SET user_notify = 1 WHERE user_notify = 0 AND user_type=0
Someone else will have to chime in here about user_type, but I noticed all the bots and crawlers had user_type set to 2, so thought it best to exclude them.

Thank you for the mod. Worked beautifully first time as far as I can tell with no errors...

I had the same problem with the SQL error page as the users above. To fix it, after running the query as indicated in the install guide I edited the new row created in the phpbb_config table, user_notify, to change the is_dynamic value from 0 to 1.

That seemed to work.

And thanks to dogslife for the tip about running a query to update existing users. That worked also. BTW, running "user_type = 0" takes care of registered users. I ran an additional query with "user_type = 3" to update the admin.

This is what I was told to use previously.

Code: Select all

UPDATE `phpbb_users` SET `user_notify` = 1 WHERE `user_type` <> 2
That way you get user type smaller AND greater than 2.
