How do I install these smiles?

Post by liaisonextreme »

I just opened a new forum on my website. I am wondering how I should install these files. What directory does the .pak file go into and should I keep the smiles file names intact as they are?

The smiles and the .pak file all go in your images/smiles directory.

Fabulous job with the smilies, but I have a problem. How would my readers find them? The original grouping is still shown on the post page, and now when I click on "View more Emoticons" no pop-up box opens (though it used to before I uploaded this pack and images).

I am so happy to be able to offer these to my members but I have a problem.

The Applause smilie just shows the code and not the cute little smilie when selected for a post.

The Whistler smilie does nothing. I can click on it all day and it will not do anything.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Not sure what's hapenning here. It looks like something has changed on v2.0.6 of th board to stop the > character being used in smilies. See below on how to change this.

Oh dear. Hadn't noticed that before - it doesn't even work in v2.0.4. The problem is with the Javascript and HTML in the board not liking quotes in the smiley.

To change the smiley text go to the Administration Panel, and select Smilies under General Admin. Then scroll down to the whistling smiley and click Edit. Change the text of the smiley code from :- to :-^ click submit and all should be well - although you may need to refresh pages to pick up the change.

Sorry about that.

Adrian.

To add the smiley pack use the administration page. You'll find the tutorial here -> http://www.phpbb.com/support/tutorials/
