Re: MultRace Rank Themes

Post by Neu71 »

Hello IBBoard,
when I translate it, I will send the files to the forum so you can use them.

I cannot see the button "Add new rank theme" and therefore I cannot create new rank lists, only ranks within the "DEFAULT"-list. And I cannot see even one rank in this ACP screen.
When I create a new rank, even if I select "yes" or "no" after accepting, I still get the empty rank list. What’s curious about it is that I have created about 100 icons for different ranks within images/ranks, but when I create a new rank, I can only see the .gif for selecting in the drop-down menu, and not the .jpg
However, if I go later to the main page in Rank Themes, I see all of them, and the new ones, too, in the DEFAULT list.
I have changed the files includes/acp/acp_ranks.php and adm/style/acp_ranks.html three times, but it still doesn’t work.
As soon as I upload the includes/acp/acp_ranks.php file to the FTP, the default ranks on the screen disappear and you can only see what you have seen in the first shot.
I believe I have some kind of problem with the includes/acp/acp_ranks.php file. But I don't know which.

Thanks

That generally looks okay. There's nothing obvious that I can see that's wrong. If the PHP file is okay then the only thing that leaves is the template (which makes sense when buttons are missing). Have you made the changes to adm/style/acp_ranks.html as well and made sure that it has cleared the cached version? (I think it caches the admin template as well)

This is the released and phpBB checked version, so it should be safe. I think someone earlier in the thread said it worked on their phpBB 3.0.2 without any changes to the instructions. The normal conditions/disclaimers of "take a backup" and "if you break it then it's your fault" apply, though :)

lol ofcourse ... just one more question any updates you may put out will have an update installation procedure for already modded forum with MultRace Rank Themes correct ?? removing and and reinstalling would be a bitch in which case id rather wait to see if you do anymore development and install a final version or something ...

thanks for you time :)

I will try to make upgrade instructions when (or if) another version is released. The only thing I've got to work out is how the phpBB MOD packaging rules say I have to supply them. Some parts are very prescriptive, but others give you no detail at all.

I don't think 1.2 has upgrade instructions from 1.0, but 1.0 wasn't very widely used before 1.2 was released (I already had it about ready by the time 1.0 finally got approved!).

I understand with this mod, user can choose which rank theme they want to use.
Is it possible to change that user can not choose, but admin will determine which user can use which theme?

Thanks

madshark: That depends how long you want to wait. The mod is available and functional, so it isn't my top priority at the moment. After becoming a father for the first time in May I've got far less time than the small amount I used to have (especially when visitors won't let us have free weekends) so development is definitely on the back burner.

kicky: That should theoretically be possible, but isn't an option at the moment. The next release was going to include ACP features to change a user's rank theme. That in combination with not making the changes to the UCP would achieve a "rank theme can only be set by admins" system.

That text looks okay on my forum, but it's a similar size to the rest of the text. The easiest way to make it bigger without affecting other lists is to add

Code: Select all

class="themelist"
to the <ul> tag and then add something like

Code: Select all

.themelist { font-size: 1.3em }
to your CSS.

Hey this is an awesome mod, thanks for putting it together.

Like everyone else I'm waiting for permissions to allow only certain members to use a group.

Well, I got tired of waiting (yes I only installed it last night but still). I made a work around that will allow you do do this.

** NOTICE ** This removes most protection and someone could probably still find a way to use the locked themes!

In your modded files:
includes/ucp/ucp_profile.php

FIND

Code: Select all

				//Multi-rank theme: Construct the rank theme options, if applicable
				$s_rank_theme_options = '';
ADD AFTER

Code: Select all

				if ( $user->data['group_id'] == '4' || $user->data['group_id'] == '5' ) {
					$rtheme_get = 0;
				} else {
					$rtheme_get = 1;
				}
FIND

Code: Select all

 						'WHERE'		=> 'rtheme_public = 1 AND rtheme_id > ' . DEFAULT_RANK_THEME_ID,
IN LINE FIND

Code: Select all

rtheme_public = 1
REPLACE WITH

Code: Select all

rtheme_public >= ' . $rtheme_get . '
That will allow Global Moderators (group_id 4) and Admins (group_id 5) to see the private themes.

includes/cache.php
FIND

Code: Select all

				'WHERE'		=> 't.rtheme_public OR t.rtheme_id = ' . SPECIAL_RANK_THEME_ID,
REPLACE WITH

Code: Select all

				'WHERE'		=> 't.rtheme_public >= "0" OR t.rtheme_id = ' . SPECIAL_RANK_THEME_ID,
This will allow a private theme to be displayed.

Until there is an official implementation of this, this will work for me and I hope some of you can use it as well.

That's one way to do a quick fix. Private rank themes were meant for when you are part way through creating the theme, but you're not likely to be in that situation too frequently. I've also posted a link to your post in the dev thread.

Thanks.

Yeah, I can see it's not what you meant, but it's a quick fix :D

Hey, question.

I have a non phpBB page that I have displaying the logged in user's info, what's the best/easiest way to grab their profile link? Mainly I want to know what the db query is.

Thanks!
