Are they .gifs or are they in another css file?
They are .gif files.
bg_list.gif is used for the forum lists and once you click on a forum title, bg_header.gif is used in the same capacity...... which I didn't like so I edited it so they both use bg_list.gif
Either way, yup they're .gif files and you will have to recolor them manually.

As I suspected.

I'm not that great with PSP X so I'll probably just use the online colouriser and then manually extract the .gif files and copy them to my style directory and update my css files with the correct colour codes.
I can't use the new style produced from the online colouriser as I have too many edits in the files.

What about the main forum title colour though - the horizontal bar which the forum names are in?
I can't seem to find that anywhere.

I can make the changes in photoshop but I can't figure out how to use the online colorizer!

I'm not sure what you are talking about. The text? The rounded cornered thingy around all the forums? A screenshot would help.

P.S. if you just need the bg_list and bg_header .gif files changed to a different gradient color you could always post in the request topic above and someone will probably do it for you. It doesn't take a long time. About 3 minutes in photoshop as long as you give the hex number for the colors you want.

In this link for example: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewforum.php?f=74
The grey rows which have ANNOUNCEMENTS/TOPICS, Replies, Views, Last Post - I can't find the code for this section in colours.css.

I'll bear that in mind, thanks.
I'd rather try and do it manually as I almost have the colours I want so it would be a lot easier just to make a few tweaks.

Ok, IC. Now I'm worried that I misundertood what you were talking about in your first post. ;)

On the index page this is controlled by bg_list.gif
On the forum pages this is controlled by bg_header.gif

This is what I changed in my style. I made them both use the bg_list.gif

I think we're talking about different things.
On my forum bglist.gif and bgheader.gif are the vertical bars:
http://www.cliptheapex.com/forum/styles ... g_list.gif
http://www.cliptheapex.com/forum/styles ... header.gif

I can't find how to change the colour of the horizontal bar that goes between them.

Oh, I see. You're confused as to the shape and orientation of the image. Regardless of how they appear bg_list and bg_header are repeated over and over again to make the horizontal bars that you are talking about. Try sticking any old image in there and call it by one of those file names and you will see what I mean

Hi there, I am a completely baffled newbie and I just can't seem to change the colour of my prosilver header.
What is really confusing me is that when i go to acp/styles/prosilver/theme I don't see any of the files like color.css that I am expecting to see there just a whole load of html.
I have tried editing the header background colour from here and then submitting and then refreshing the theme but it doesn't appear to have any effect.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Just don't use the acp-editor, but edit it directly through the files
You need to use a FTP program to upload all the files from the ftp server to your pc.
After that open the files that are mention on the start post with a good editor

If you edit it with the acp-editor you don't need to refresh your theme, if you do that you will loosing all your edits.
The only thing you need to refresh is your browser.

Thanks for the tips.
Can you recommend a good editor?
Is there any difference between editing from the ACP and directly from the files?

Yes,

The acp-editor storing everything on the database, so if you truncate a table ( styles_theme ) you don't have any back up and the edits are gone.
That also happened when you refresh your theme.
I do always the way to edit on the files, so you have always a back up and you are seeing what you edit , much saver IMO.

A good editor is to my opinion ; notepad++ :)

Thanks again.
I now have np++ and will make further changes directly from the files. Do I have to delete the old colour.css before I upload the new edited version?
I am still a bit confused as to why my edits to the headerbar background colour from the ACP don't appear to make any difference to the forum colours.......
This newbie is slowly getting it ;)
