Guest count vanishes when I change other extensions

by Shenzy » Tue Jun 19, 2018 9:36 pm

As the title says, the 'and X guests' disappears as soon as I activate or deactivate any other extension. The only way to fix it is to deactivate the 24 Hour Activity Stats extension, delete the cache and then activate again. It won't be a big problem when I'm done with the forum and don't have to mess around much with the extensions anymore, but I'm still wondering why this is happening. Any ideas?

Let me check my crystal ball, yep sorry it's still broken and I don't know what other extensions you are referring to.

I've looked at it some more and noticed that it isn't my extensions themselves causing the guest count to disappear.
Whenever I modify files (for example, change one color in my style), the guest count, and ONLY the guest count of the extension is just gone, without doing anything to the extension itself. I'm not sure if I'm just doing it incorrectly... Whenever I do something to my style or an extension, I delete the cache via the ACP and then delete my browsers cache, so that the change will show up. If that causes the 24 Hour Activity Stats to break, am I doing it wrong?

Small update, for those interested:
I've been able to reproduce exactly what has to be done to get the guest count to disappear. No matter which FTP-client I use, whenever I open a file via the client, edit it and then let it automatically upload the edited file, the guest count is gone. It does not happen when I simply upload or delete files directly.
I have no idea why or how, but my problem is basically fixed now. Whenever I want to edit something, I just have to remind myself to download the file first and then upload it manually.
