I really need a little tweak on this extension: like the topic title says, I need the group leader(s) to be able to add users to a certain group for a defined time... exactly as the ban function can do. From the admin user banning tab, you can set the duration of the ban; banning a user adds that user to the hidden "banned users" group. So I think creating a new function for autogroup to temporarily add an user to a group must not be so difficult.

I would like to stress out that I'm NOT seeking to do that to create a "premium" group for paying users.

Judging from some google research, I'm not the first and I don't think I would be the last to ask for such a function.

Can you help me out?

This is not something this extension can do. Auto Groups is designed to work automatically adding and removing users based on watching for specific conditions a user meets with respect to data tracked about the user (their age, last visit, post count, etc.) The time a user is a member of a group is not tracked.

What you are asking for would require a different extension written around doing your specific task, so you should ask for that in the Extension Requests forum. What you're basically asking for is the Ban functionality, without actually banning the user, and would require an extension building off of that system.

Yep, I'm asking exactly something like that.
But really it is simple: once achieved the result of a timed memberchip in a group, you can easily play with existing permissions to force a style on the user and preventing him to reply everywhere on the board.

I already posted in Extension Requests, now I'm waiting and hoping.
