A lot of thanks to lr94 for this very useful - and expected - extension.

In the French version, the extension works well, except one thing : as the administrator, I can't find "Using a new option in "general forum settings", administrators can also set specific forums so that new topics will be automatically subscribed by their authors." as shown in hereafter attached screen copy. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm not sure that my forum members can use this extension even after having answered "yes" via their User Control Panel (as shown in your 1st screenshot)...

you are looking in the wrong section: the screenshot you posted comes from
General -> Board Configuration -> Post settings -> Posting
but when I say "General forum setting" I mean the "general settings" of a specific forum:
Forums -> Manage forums -> [your category -> ... -> your forum or subforum] -> Edit -> General forum settings

When the option in the User Control Panel is checked all the new topics posted by the user should be subscribed by default. Please note that while submitting a new topic users can still decide not to subscribe that simply by unchecking the "Notify me when a reply is posted" option.
