Delete reason? - Delete My Account

Delete reason?

Awesome Extension! :)

Any possibility that an optional filed could be added, say after the two step deletion process boxes, asking for a brief reason of why they are wanting to delete their account, and have it logged some where or sent via email to the board Administrators, or even a specific email?

It would be nice for Administrators and board owners, as well as the user deleting, to have the option of adding a reason as to why they might be deleting their account, for example "No longer interested" , or "don't have the time" etc, just as some sort of feedback?

It's an interesting idea but as the delete process uses the standard procedure there isn't anywhere to store this information once the user is deleted, except as a comment in the admin log entry that tells of the deletion, so really there is only room for something small.

Hello BrokenCrust, thanks for your work in this extension. I am enjoying it :)

The reason to delete could be sent as an email to admin and not stored anywhere. Just to have some feedback why the user is going away.

Kind regards,

I'll look into it a bit. Do people actually take time to do this? I never do.

I never do either! If i'm forced to, I just enter random text.

Correct. There are a lot of people that do not fill this type of form. But, there are another portion of people who like to help and fill it out.

In the case of my forum, where I don't allow username change, people often delete their account in order to be able to change their usernames. In this case, they are more prone to fill out the reason.

Kind regards,

Why not allow username changes? Problem solved. :)

I'm pretty sure I won't add this feature. I won't use it myself, it will probably fall foul of GDPR and I can see an ever expanding requirements list to include surveys and questions and undo and whatnot. That's not what this mod is about. It's about letting people choose to delete their account, themselves, right then and there and no questions asked after confirming the deletion.
