Media Sites - Additions & Updates - phpBB Media Embed PlugIn

Linked In Embed

by atonicens » Sat Feb 22, 2020 10:52 am

I'm not really sure how to do it technically (not familiar with reg expressions) but it would be nice if LinkedIn posts were embeddable.

There are a few different formats of LinkedIn post; those with SHARE as a parameter and those with UGC. Apparently LinkedIn are phasing out the old Share embeds in favour of UGC.

Right now I have 2 BB Codes where I manually look to see if it's UGC or SHARE and then enter the post ID into the bbcode. Works well but not easy to do when on mobile and would be easier if we could just paste the proper link.

From reading the guide on TextFormatter they mentioned something about the dimensions of the GIF not being available on the main link so needing to scrape that information from the second link

https://github.com/s9e/TextFormatter/bl ... _custom.md

But what is weird is I tried just using the /ifr link and changed the code so that it all used it instead of /watch but that doesn't work either.

So I am lost as to what to try next
I have not tried this yet, but it's basically just gfycat with a different domain. If you change the domain from "redgifs.com" to "gfycat.com" and strip out the "watch" part of the URL, the video will still display as if it were hosted at gfycat. So maybe you could copy whatever the code is for gfycat links? I don't know, but sounds like it could work.

edit: the solution posted by VSE did not work for me, either. When I wrapped it in [media] tags, it actually gave me an error that I wasn't permitted to use the tags, which is weird because (a) all the permissions were correctly set, including for that tag; and (b) other types of media wrapped in the [media] tags work fine.

EDIT 2: VSE's solution works perfectly as long as there is no "www" at the beginning of the URL. The "www" breaks it for some reason that I don't care to try to fix. Thanks, VSE!

Hello!

I'm new to creating YAML files to add sites to this amazing extension. Congratulations for this creation.

I saw in the FAQ instructions and I'm trying to insert my first site, I need to learn because I want to insert others sites.

So! I am trying figure out the RegEx pattern to extract the URL (amazon.com.br) to have the embed code. (I don't know if talking like that I can be understood).

These are my steps but I'm not succeeding:

I went to https://regexr.com/ and inserted the product link and thought it would return the extract to finish my YAML file and upload it in ext directory. But I think I don't know what I'm doing! But I want to learn. I need.

I am sure I'm pasting the product link in the wrong field or doind the wrong way. Because it not return the code. Where should I paste the link in https://regexr.com/ or what i need to do there please?

Image

My YAML file is ready to receive the url codes, it will be called amazonbr.yaml

Code: Select all

name: AMAZONBR
host: amazon.com.br
example: https://www.amazon.com.br/Carregador-Pilhas-Baterias-46RSCUSB0000-Elgin/dp/B07KX5W65P?pf_rd_r=BBW0P0T0Z363WSRTBXD8&pf_rd_p=684cbc23-3fdf-41f8-b91b-b645e6c1f907&pd_rd_r=5f672b0c-669d-40f7-9056-ca263f09837e&pd_rd_w=yaLlS&pd_rd_wg=KHKUM&ref_=pd_gw_ci_mcx_mr_hp_d
extract: "!!"
iframe:
    width: 300
    height: 600
    src:
This is a link for a product, but I need all produts:
https://www.amazon.com.br/Carregador-Pi ... cx_mr_hp_d

I will be very grateful for any help. Thanks so much.

Ask the developer to add support for Amazon Brazil (amazon can not simply be added like other sites, mainly because of nations and marketing terms of service tags)
https://s9etextformatter.readthedocs.io ... bed/Sites/
Formerly known as VSEMy ExtensionsPlease do not PM me for support.

Thanks for reply MattF, I got on s9etextformatter and there are really many Amazon sites already, great. I would like to have amazon br included. I didn't find a contact form in s9etextformatter to ask. What protocol should I do to request a site? and for which person, have a contact please?

Along with this new entry from amazon br I would like to go here learning to insert simple sites, I would like to insert other sites too, but i want learn. I ll be very grateful for the help. Thank you

I'll save the both of us some time and inform you that if you want me to consider adding support for Amazon Brazil, I'll need you to provide the URL for their Brazil widget. Amazon is a pain to deal with and if they have any documentation about their product widget, I either don't know where it is or I don't have access to it.
I wrote the library that handles markup in phpBB 3.2+.

Thanks for reply JoshyPHP, i will do a search to know more about the url for their widget.

About add another sites and create new YAML files, I still don't really know where to start in regexr.com/ to extract the code to insert in the YAML file the extract. Could you please tell me if this site is easier? and if i can learn from add sites?

No, and realistically if you can't find that kind of information I don't think you'll be able to use it.

Anyone over 6 years of age regularly knows the arithmetic tables, this does not necessarily mean that the entire population of Earth can necessarily learn how or is able to program. With or without courses, for example I am a cook (retired now) and I have never attended any programming courses.

Your theory collapses here. ;)

We are two retirees so  Good Cursos are fantastic! You learn the right way and grow a lot. Theory is also needed to avoid mistakes and master the route. Just need have the time, money and desire to do them. The universities creates lot of coders masters every year in all world. So we have an incredible world becoming more and more encoded every day.

I hope sucess to every one! keep coding!!! :geek:

Thanks for all your help!
