Users have been asking if would it be possible to make a similar extension - or include in this one, showing live sunspots from the SOHO mission

I assume that the image you have linked to is updated daily? Assuming the answer is yes, and I can get permission to use the image then it would be possible to have this image alongside the existing or maybe the moon on index and sunspots on other pages? (or the other way around of course)

You will know far better than I do but are there any other sites that produce a 'live' sunspot image ?

EDIT:- I have had a bit of an experiment and the concept works EXCEPT there is a circle of black around the sun. I have emailed NASA asking for permission to use the image.

Yes, the image I linked to, is updated "live", don't know the interval, but at least hourly.

Great that you are looking into this - I really appreciate that. If you succeed, I am looking forward to seeing the result

Edit:
The Sun is near it's minimum in it's 11 year sun spot cycle, sunspots only appear rarely at the moment.
