I know this is old ;) but I was looking for the same thing....so basically what you do is edit 2 files:
/ext/rmcgirr83/genders/core/gender_constants.php
find

Code: Select all

'GENDER_NONE'	=> 0,
			'FA-MARS' => 1,
			'FA-VENUS' => 2,
			'FA-INTERSEX' => 3,
			'FA-MARS-DOUBLE' => 4,
			'FA-MARS-STROKE' => 5,
			'FA-MARS-STROKE-H' => 6,
			'FA-MARS-STROKE-V' => 7,
			'FA-MERCURY' => 8,
			'FA-NEUTER' => 9,
			'FA-TRANSGENDER' => 10,
			'FA-TRANSGENDER-ALT' => 11,
			'FA-VENUS-DOUBLE' => 12,
			'FA-VENUS-MARS' => 13,
			'FA-GENDERLESS' => 14,
now you can edit these how you see fit or delete these if you are just wanting the 3 basic options of not answered, male or female then use this

Code: Select all

'GENDER_NONE'	=> 0,
			'FA-MARS' => 1,
			'FA-VENUS' => 2,
now the next file
/ext/rmcgirr83/genders/language/en/genders.php
find

Code: Select all

'GENDER'			=> 'Gender',
	'GENDER_NONE'	=> 'None Specified',
	'FA-MARS' => 'Male',
	'FA-VENUS' => 'Female',
	'FA-INTERSEX' => 'Intersex',
	'FA-MARS-DOUBLE' => 'Mars Double',
	'FA-MARS-STROKE' => 'Mars Stroke',
	'FA-MARS-STROKE-H' => 'Mars Stroke H',
	'FA-MARS-STROKE-V' => 'Mars Stroke V',
	'FA-MERCURY' => 'Mercury',
	'FA-NEUTER' => 'Neuter',
	'FA-TRANSGENDER' => 'Transgender',
	'FA-TRANSGENDER-ALT' => 'Transgender Alt',
	'FA-VENUS-DOUBLE' => 'Venus Double',
	'FA-VENUS-MARS' => 'Venus Mars',
	'FA-GENDERLESS' => 'Genderless',
	'TOO_LARGE_USER_GENDER'	=> 'Gender value is too large.',
	'TOO_SMALL_USER_GENDER'	=> 'Gender value is too small.',
	'MUST_CHOOSE_GENDER'	=>	'You must choose an appropriate gender',
now you can edit these how you see fit or delete these if you are just wanting the 3 basic options of not answered, male or female then use this

Code: Select all

'GENDER'			=> 'Gender',
	'GENDER_NONE'	=> 'None Specified',
	'FA-MARS' => 'Male',
	'FA-VENUS' => 'Female',
	'TOO_LARGE_USER_GENDER'	=> 'Gender value is too large.',
	'TOO_SMALL_USER_GENDER'	=> 'Gender value is too small.',
	'MUST_CHOOSE_GENDER'	=>	'You must choose an appropriate gender',
