Suggestion for Stop Forum Spam Extension

I've been using hardcoded version of this on a 3.0.X forum for what must be ten years now. It's worked so well in the past I've even disabled the captcha. One issue with this is if the stop forum database is unreachable you could get swamped without the captcha.

To help prevent this I have cronjob that downloads the text files directly for IP's and emails listed in the last 24 hours and 7 days.

This way if the stop forum database is unreachable I still have list of the most recent spammers. I first check these lists before querying the stop forum database. What is nice about these lists is the chances of a false positive are about 0, I can set the threshold for the database check higher preventing false positives there too.

The extension has an ACP entry which either allows the registration/posting to go through if stopforumspam is down, it also does the opposite and doesn't allow the post/registration to go through if the site is down.
