Guest posts are requiring e-mail. Way to turn off?

by BigBoosting » Wed Aug 30, 2017 5:06 pm

Hi, I have a forum that allows Guest posting (has to be that way).

Prior to the Stop Forum Spam install, Guests didn't have to enter their e-mail address. After the install, even with Check Against E-mail set to No, the e-mail address field is visible and is required. I'd like it to not be visible or required by Guests. Is there a way to accomplish this?

I've disabled the extension for now and it's gone back to the way it was, so I don't think it's settings somewhere else in the ACP that are the issue.

Thank you.

Email is a required field due to this line in the listener file

and you can't simply remove it or errors will present themselves.

So the extension isn't usable if you don't want to require Guests to enter e-mail?

Is there a way I could populate it with a dummy e-mail behind the scenes and just use CSS to hide the field on the front-end?
