Why some Authors ask for support for their work?

by Mike63740 » Wed Dec 20, 2017 6:50 pm

Some leave unanswered questions in the hands of others to answer, without confirming the answer given are good or bad. These are the extensions I uninstall, no matter how much I like them.

If I post a problem about an extension on the Author page, I expect an answer from the Author. If some users provide an answer that worked for them, I expect the Authors’ confirmation.

Example:
1. https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... pic/179016

2. https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte ... pic/181906

Extensions are great enhancements to phpBB, but I can live with or without them.

Every extension used on my board, I intend to donate to the Authors when the board is ready for online access.

I will not modify an extension based on an untitled-user experience. Even tho the user modification could be good or seem to work.

Thanks for your reply.

That's completely your choice. Concerning the links you posted, those are simple html edits which have zero affect on the security of the extension.

Maybe

Because of my low knowledge in phpBB, is why I am skeptical about making certain modifications without guidance from a titled person.

Like you said. Simple html. For me, I think it is putting a car together. I put my confidence in the Authors and my ability to follow their instructions. This way if I have a problem, they can easily fix it.

I will get better with time and be more open to solutions from others. I am giving myself until March 2018, before the site goes online. I started building the site locally in October 2017.

Thank you.
