You probarbly forgot to set the permissions. Please make sure they are set for the user in your ACP at
ACP -> permissions -> user permissions or ACP -> permissions group permissions
Under MISC:
Can use the mention system

This extension tries to set up the permissions to the following roles by default:

• Standard
• All features

If you use a different role, or complete overwrite the permissions you will need to make sure to setup the permissions yourself.

Please note that this is a global permission and not set per forum.
