This is a really useful extension for which I am most grateful.

I have one query and that is with respect to the default avatar that appears in the topic preview screen. Having gone through the topics under Discussion/Support, whilst the default avatar has been discussed previously I am not sure that it addresses my issue - hence this post.

I am using the Pro_Ubuntu Lucid style which comes with its own default no_avatar.gif

The topic preview shows the default phpBB avatar, although in a post under another topic reference is made to this extension using custom CSS based avatar.

Basically, as the Pro_Ubuntu Lucid style has its own no_avatar.gif, should I expect to see that in the topic preview screen and not the phpBB avatar ?

No. The no_avatar.gif is not used because it is not reliably present in other styles. Also GIFs are bad practice now (unless it's a meme).
