It seems that the API for Youtube is not activated, so it does not capture the video title.

In addition to creating the API Key, you must activate it for use with YouTube Data API.

How to activate YouTube API access: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IS8G_8xHGzM

All works thanks for the answer. After creating the key, Google asked to limit the use of api, I chose to exchange data from the site, after removing all earned

I installed the ext on a 3.2.1 forum, but the titles do not appear.

API is activated, on the console.developers.google.com it appears as active, requests are coming in, but all requests are in errors.
Unfortunately, the interface of the console.developers has changed over the last months, and the available tutorials on YouTube are obsolete.....

Can someone help, pls ?

Thank you Vinny,

I tried that before, but it didn't help.

However, in the meantime, I found a possible solution (even if I'm not sure that solution may be valid in the long term):

In the Key Restrictions part of the screen (on console.developers....), choose "Nothing" for your API key.

You'll get a warning about possible abuse of the key, but at least, it works. You'll have to wait a couple of minutes to get the changes commited, so be patient

Note that the titles are being stored in the DB when a new video is inserted in the gallery (and not afterwards), so all the videos that are already in the gallery have to be either:
  • Deleted and inserted again (not good, because you lose your comments and view counters)
  • Changed manually in the db to add the title (Easy to do if you already have a bare minimum knowledge of how to edit records in a table). I did it that way by copy/paste the title of the videos directly in the table.
Hope this will help others that could have the same issue.

If I may, i would suggest, for a further development of the extension to add the possibility to:
  • Move a video from a category to another
  • Add more details from the snippet such as the description field (and a ACP or UCP option to display it or not), date of the original video, and also a link to the original channel
  • Add multiple levels of categories (i.e. categories in categories, as there are forums into forums)... I'm aware that that would cost at least an arm and a kidney to be done, but hey... you'll never know if you don't ask, right ? ;)
Keep up the good working, and thanks again !

DOH ! I posted it just above !!!!! SORRY ....
Moderator, please be kind enough to delete this one ....
I will also make another subject with the other requests , because there are off topic here
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I finally got the title displaying. Since the console on Google has been changed, some things are changed also.
I'm pretty sure I posted somewhere how I finally got it to work, but anyway, it is a question of referrers.
If I remember correctly, at Google side, you have to disable something related to referrers.

This gives a warning. i don't know if it is something serious or not, but anyway that was the way I made it work....

Hope this helps other struggling with those YouTube API keys
