(I managed to install it, after I made fresh phpbb install on empty database, I guess in the old one was something which caused error) ;)

I am having the exact same issue that user Cocteau had. I had Add User installed on 3.0.9 and just did a fresh install of 3.0.10. I may have made a mistake as I tried to use AutoMod to install Add User, but it returned a screen full of errors, but AutoMod claimed that it installed properly. I then un-installed it using AutoMod and read the instructions in the install.xml file. I then manually transferred the files to my web site, ran acp_aumod_install.php, deleted it, and purged the cache.

When I go into Users and Groups in the ACP, I don't see Add User as I used to. When I check my permissions, there's no Can Create User Accounts permission.

What's going on?

Thanks, Geoff

That is an automod issue. How are you uploading the mod?

Re Automod: It worked fine to install the Digests mod.

Re Uploading: I unpacked the ZIP file on my PC, used WS_FTP to upload the files to the server, ran acp_aumod_install.php (with no errors) and then deleted acp_aumod_install.php.

Note that the ASCII transfer settings are correct in WS_FTP. I use it constantly to shuffle many files back and forth.

P.S. Before doing a fresh install of phpBB, I copied my existing database to a new db and used the new db for the fresh install. I noted that in the table phpbb_config, that the row named "add_user_version" does not exist. Other than that the tables are basically identical between the two installs.

Why aren't you using automod to upload the mod?

I did, but got the errors shown above. It didn't progress past the screen full of errors, but it shows it as being installed in AutoMod.

Ensure your directory permissions are correct.

I have checked the permissions multiple times and they're all correct.

Per the KB article

The cache directory - 777
The store directory - 777
The images/avatars/upload directory - 777

Doesn't look like your cache and store directories are set correctly to me.

Other than that, I have no idea why it isn't installing for you but it has to be something on your server or something you aren't doing correctly.

The cache, store and images/avatars/upload directory are set to 777. All other directories are 755. Files are set to 644. I just realized that the display showed "rwxrwx..." on the 777 files due to the display field being too small, but it's really "rwxrwxrwx".

[Note I just re-edited the post with the directory image and replaced the image with one that had a larger "Attrributes" field so that it didn't clip.

I just needed to uninstall, update phpBB and re-install this, and here's the only way that I could make this happen correctly:

Run /acp_aumod_install.php
Update phpBB
Unpack zip mod file into directory
Upload files to phpBB
run /acp_aumod_install.php

Note that I also tried installing Add User on a virgin 3.0.11 test forum and had the exact same problem. Performing the last 3 steps installed it for me.
