Some Welcome Emails Not Being Sent

by Moderato Maestoso » Tue Jul 26, 2011 12:38 pm

Hi guys,

I installed the ACP Add User MOD, and in the main it's been great, but it seems that some people aren't receiving the welcome email. It's nothing to do with junk mail or any errors with the PHP mail function (if I create a user, and then force reactivation in the UCP, they get the reactivation email no problem) - it only seems to be happening with emails from the ACPAU Mod.

I've tested this with multiple email addresses / domains etc. There seems to be no consistency.

Does this Mod use the standard messenger functions of PHPBB?

Is this a known problem? Does anyone know of a workaround?

System:
- PHPBB 3.0.9
- ACP Add User MOD 1.10
- Linux / Apache / PHP 5.2.14 / MySQL 5.1.50 (hosted by Fasthosts)

Many thanks! :)

Yes it uses the standard messenger functions of phpBB.

I'd like to add that my manual registration through this MOD leaves me with about 75% of new registrations never logging in. Nobody ever writes and says they didn't get the registration email, so I';m not sure what is really going on.

I'm having other permissions problems, too, but I'll Post that separately.

I'm having the exact same problem. Some members are receiving the welcome email while others do not. When I tested this after installing, I registered myself using three of my different email addresses. Two worked flawlessly and the third never received the email no matter how many times I sent it. Finally, I whitelisted the domain, and then everything was OK.

However, now that we have gone live with this procedure, we have one new registrant who is not getting the email on either of two email addresses. One is Hotmail and the other is a personal web site.

Two questions then: Is there a way to modify the email headers to avoid this problem and make receipt of the email more consistent?

and can a cc: address be added to the welcome email so that our office staff will also receive it and can forward it if the new registrant doesn't receive it?

Thanks,
cgk
