3.0.10: No password generated
Hi there
I have been using the ACP Add User MOD successfully for years now. I recently updated to phpBB 3.0.10 and notice that users who I have added manually now complain that they receive a username but no password in the auto generated email. I set up a test user with my email address and I find this is true. Here is an extract from the email that comes from the Board:
Please keep this e-mail for your records. Your account information is as
follows:
----------------------------
Username: test2-user
Board URL: http://forum.life-coach-training-sa.com
----------------------------
Is there anything I can do to fix this?
Thanks.

Re: 3.0.10
Just have them click on the "forgot password" link to have a new password sent to them.

Re: 3.0.10
Thanks, I have been doing that. Its a bit clunky though. Do you know if there's a fix in sight?

Re: 3.0.10
The only reason that they wouldn't get the password is if you have the board set to "activation by admin" which the mod uses the admin_welcome_inactive email template in that case. Changing the setting in the ACP for user registration will generate a different email that then has the password within it.

Re: 3.0.10
Hi. I have the account activation set to 'disable registration'. I haven't changed this over the years.

Re: 3.0.10
In that case the user_added_welcome email template is used which has the password set within it.
I just tested it on a test forum with registration set to disabled and the password was sent in the email template.
You may want to check your user registration settings

Re: 3.0.10
I have resolved the issue by updating the MOD to the latest version (something I should have thought of before!)
Thanks so much for your help - great MOD!

Re: 3.0.10
Hi RMcGirr83,
As I mentioned above the MOD is working fine for the auto generation and issuance of a username and password but I have just noticed another new problem...
The functionality for retrieving a lost password does not work for me. I have tried this both with a recently created test account and with a long time existing one - and I get the same result. When I click on 'I forgot my password' and then enter the username and email address I get:
Information
The e-mail/username information submitted could not be found.
Despite this I am able to login successfully using the email/username combinations tried.
Would you perhaps be able to shed any light on this? I know for sure that this functionality was working prior to me upgrading to 3.0.10.
Thanks - Bill.

and how are you able to login if you don't know the password?
Just tested this and I was able to retrieve the password using my test accounts username and email address with registration set to disabled.

Re: 3.0.10
I was only testing the functionality on behalf of other users of my Board who are forever losing their passwords and needing to retrieve them
Clearly something in my set up is not right?
Any ideas?

Re: 3.0.10
Is that username and email combination found within the database and if it is what is the number in the "user_type" column.

Re: 3.0.10
I have tried this with three different username/email combinations and get the same result each time.
Can you help direct me as to where to go to find the "user_type" information you have requested?
Thanks.

Re: 3.0.10
Within the database via phpmyadmin, look at the users table.
