Mod won't install

by jhicken » Wed Apr 20, 2011 1:51 pm

I had a little issue this afternoon which with the help of another board member, I got all straightened out. To fix this, I needed to upload all new phpBB3 files except for the config, files and images folders. Everything came back ok, however the "Homepage Link in header" mod wasn't appearing. Although it appeared "installed" in the list in Automod window, the link didn't appear in the forum. So I went into Automod and uninstalled and deleted the old mod. I then tried to reinstall the mod again through Automod and although the files edits were successful I had four SQL Querie errors:

===========================

Error:Duplicate entry 'show_homepage' for key 1
INSERT INTO phpbb_config (config_name, config_value) VALUES ('show_homepage', '0')

Error:Duplicate entry 'show_homepage_in_new' for key 1
INSERT INTO phpbb_config (config_name, config_value) VALUES ('show_homepage_in_new', '0')

Error:Duplicate entry 'homepage_url' for key 1
INSERT INTO phpbb_config (config_name, config_value) VALUES ('homepage_url', 'http://www.your_own_site.com')

Error:Duplicate entry 'homepage_title' for key 1
INSERT INTO phpbb_config (config_name, config_value) VALUES ('homepage_title', 'Your homepage title')

===========================

I have no idea how to fix this. Anyone have any ideas?

thanks in advance.

There's nothing to fix. It's just telling you that the changes to the database have already been made (because of the previous install). Purge the cache and refresh the style(s) and you should be good to go.

I had tried that, even checked using a different computer and different browser. No luck. Like I said before, through automod the mod currently isn't installed. When I try to re-install it I get the above message. Can I edit the DB? If so, where can I find it?

Automod does the database edits automatically. They are already in there so it gives you the duplicate entry error. IT ISN"T A PROBLEM! after automod does it's thing Go to your ACP, clear your cache and refresh your templates.

Then go add the homepage info in your ACP, under "Board Configuration" --> Board settings

Automod only made the edits in prosilver and subsilver. IF you are using a different style you need to go into automod and click the details link for that mod. near the bottom of that page it says "available changes"

Apply these changes prosilver or subsilver to this template choose your style and click submit After it's done, go to the styles tab, and refresh your template. OR you can manually edit the styles/yourstyle/template/overall_header.html.

Like I said, I cleared my cache and refreshed my templates, it didn't help. I also checked under the board configuration ---> board settings and there wasn't any place to "add the homepage info". I am using prosilver, only the "reds" version. I made sure the style was selected. Still no change.

So here's what I did. I went back to the automod page with the results from my attempt at reinstalling the mod. In the red box it said that I could force the install. Considering that everything looked like it was already installed, I took a chance. I guess the forum gods took pity on my and everything is good. Thanks for your patience.

So, when you said the file edits were successful you didn't actually mean the file edits were successful just that AutoMOD didn't report any errors for those. That is why those trying to help misunderstood.

Good that you got it reinstalled.
