Breizh Ajax Checks

v1.0.2 feedback - Breizh Ajax Checks

v1.0.2 feedback

by richey » Thu Apr 12, 2012 8:12 am

Hello,

just a few notes about my experiences and thoughts after installing 1.2.0:

- the "failed connection to server" error message is completely useless and just causes irritation (as you can also see in this forum). If the user can't connect "to the server", he won't be able to load the forum anyway! :idea: So just leave this away.

- your self-advertisement at the end: I can get you are proud of it, but don't you think it's a bit much for a simple AJAX check that intends to actually make things smoother than to further clutter the registration screen.

- the German translation file is actually a spanish one. I had to do the translations by myself to make it usable. In case someone wans it, here we go:

Code: Select all

(..)
$lang = array_merge($lang, array(
   'AJAX_CHECK_USERNAME_FALSE'         => 'Dieser Username ist bereits vergeben. Bitte wählen Sie einen anderen.',
   'AJAX_CHECK_USERNAME_TRUE'         => 'Dieser Username ist noch verfügbar!',
   'AJAX_CHECK_USERNAME_TOO'         => 'Dieser Username ist bereits vergeben.',
   'AJAX_CHECK_USERNAME_CUR'         => 'Diesen Usernamen haben Sie bereits!',
   'AJAX_CHECKING'                  => 'Prüfe..',
   'AJAX_CHECKING_USERNAME'         => 'Prüfe, ob Ihr gewünschter Username noch verfügbar ist..',
   'AJAX_CHECKING_PASSWORD'         => 'Prüfe, ob beide Passworte gleich sind..',
   'AJAX_CHECKING_PASSWORD_CUR'      => 'Prüfe...',
   'AJAX_CHECKING_EMAIL_FIRST'         => 'Prüfe Gültigkeit Ihrer Maildresse...',
   'AJAX_CHECKING_EMAIL'            => 'Prüfe, ob beide Mail-Adressen gleich sind..',
   'AJAX_CHECK_PASSWORD_TRUE'         => 'OK: beide Passworte sind ident',
   'AJAX_CHECK_PASSWORD_FALSE'         => 'Die angegebenen Passworte sind unterschiedlich',
   'AJAX_CHECK_PASSWORD_STRENGTH'      => 'Prüfe Passwort-Qualität..',
   'AJAX_CHECK_PASSWORD_STRENGTH_1'   => '<span style="color: red;">Achtung, geringe Passwort-Sicherheit!</span>',
   'AJAX_CHECK_PASSWORD_STRENGTH_2'   => '<span style="color: darkorange;">Achtung, keine gute Passwort-Sicherheit!</span>',
   'AJAX_CHECK_PASSWORD_STRENGTH_3'   => '<span style="color: royalblue;">Durchschnittliche Passwort-Sicherheit.</span>',
   'AJAX_CHECK_PASSWORD_STRENGTH_4'   => '<span style="color: green;">Gute Passwort-Sicherheit.</span>',
   'AJAX_CHECK_PASSWORD_TOO'         => 'Dieses Passwort ist nicht verf&uuml;gbar',
   'AJAX_CHECK_PASSWORD_OK'         => 'Passwort ist korrekt.',
   'AJAX_CHECK_EMAIL_TRUE_FIRST'      => 'Email-Adresse ist g&uuml;ltig.',
   'AJAX_CHECK_EMAIL_TRUE'            => 'Email-Adressen gleich',
   'AJAX_CHECK_EMAIL_FALSE'         => 'Email-Adressen unterschiedlich',
   'AJAX_CHECK_EMAIL_FORMAT_FALSE'      => 'Ung&uuml;ltiges Format der Mail-Adresse!',
   'AJAX_CHECK_EMAIL_FAIL'            => 'Diese Email-Adresse wurde verweigert.',
   'AJAX_CHECK_INVALID_EMAIL'         => '<span style="color: #FF0000;">Email-Adresse verweigert, weil:</span> %s<br /><span style="color: #FF0000;">Bitte w&auml;hlen Sie eine andere, danke!</span>',
   'AJAX_CHECK_MOD'               => 'Mod Breizh Ajax Checks',
   'AJAXFROM'                     => '%s',
   'AJAX_CHECK_EMAIL_CURRENT'         => 'Dies ist Ihre aktuelle Mailadresse',
   'AJAX_CHECK_PASSWORD_BIG'         => 'Das zweite Passwort ist l&auml;nger als das erste',
));
(..)

- your hints in the language file about 'no guarantees' etc. are completely useless and might be even dangerously misleading as if the board owner could guarantee security if the password is 'strong' enough. But due to the nature of your password check, this 'strength' is actually not really high even at level 4. So why not better stay quiet and just give some basic quality feedback (as in my German verison above).

Apart from that, thanks for a useful MOD, it's great that someone took over development of the original AJAX checking MOD and continued to work on it!

This is the mod copyright, if you don't want this, no install the mod...

- the German translation file is actually a spanish one

actually, I have just seen, I reversed two files!
The downloadable file is good until here -> http://breizh-portal.com/mod-breizh-aja ... t1322.html
J'ai eu à faire les traductions par moi-même pour le rendre utilisable

Your translation is totally false, it does not meet the guidelines of phpbb, special characters are prohibited in this way and the file must be encoded in utf-8 without bom
- your hints in the language file about 'no guarantees' etc. are completely useless and might be even dangerously misleading....

It is understood that this is for informational purposes only!
Moreover, the power is calculated based on certain criteria and makes the information to warn against passwords that are too low too often used.

No problem, nothing in my post was intended to criticize you, just as feedback. It's a useful mod and I'm happy if I can be of some minor service to help make it better and more popular, it deserves it. Thanks!

kind regards,
