Install chat room with php 3.0.11 - phpBB mChat
Install chat room with php 3.0.11
I am trying to add a chat to my forum, 3.0.11; I have downloaded chat program here: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/ ... w_version/
but do not know how to proceed from here.
I posted this at the thread here: viewtopic.php?p=13902806#p13902806
but I am getting too much info, too many links. Is there a simple, step-by-step description of what I need to do?

Have you you installed any Mods before? If so, how? With Automod or manually?
Have you looked at the install instructions for the Mod? If so, which part are you stuck on?

Unzip the downloaded Mod and you'll see a file called install.xml, right click the file and open it in a browser.
Note that the instructions are marked as intermediate
You really would be better off installing Automod first and letting that install mChat for you.

so I guess all this has to be done before it's uploaded via FTP.

Like so:
Remember to back up files before editing so if anything goes wrong you can get back to how it was before you started.

Re: Install chat room with php 3.0.11
i guess i need instructions for dummies
the above screenshot is in FTP. I have uploaded the full phpbb chat folder to the main forum folder, via FTP.
do i then move the root folder from my PC over to site (via FTP)?
not getting it at all, sorry.
why does the arrow point to htaccess?

The arrow means all on the left has to go to the right, it's not pointing to anywhere in particular.
You may as well delete what you uploaded and upload just the contents of the root folder.
This would be alot easier with Automod, you haven't even started editing files yet

Where to?
this sounds very different from:
Copy: root/mchat.php
To: mchat.php
I think at the point I am not even understanding the instructions maybe means I am out of my depth?

Re: Install chat room with php 3.0.11
Would be easier, (automod auto installs mods) check the FAQ section on how to install it.
