not taking the mick; you attached a screen shot of a page that I can't find without a link. I tried FAQ but didnt find anything about automods.

Check the FAQ section but what that means is copy the contents of the folder called root to the root of your board via ftp.

root being the main forum folder, or a folder named "root"? (which there isn't)

The root of your board is where all the folders and files of your board are, where config.php is.

so i found this page: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/offi ... od/faq/786

where it says:

The image above shows the file structure within the "root" directory. Simply copy these directories to your forum's root directory (i.e. copy them to yourforum.com/phpBB3/) overwriting folders when specified by the FTP client.

So if I do this, it will overwrite the folders "admin" "includes" "language" and "store"...?

No it won't overwrite them, it will add the files from the mod into those directories.

You're making this way more difficult than need be.

Use automod (google phpbb automod)...and you should update your forum as phpBB 3.0.x is no longer supported just as the red line at the top of this topic states.
