Remove footer line in archive - Multiple Newsletters Add On

Remove footer line in archive

by Sepp71 » Thu Jun 20, 2013 8:35 pm

Hallo,

I've been using this mod for some time now and still appreciate it very much.
Now I had to change the newsletter-footer because I use it for my personal contact data which have changed.
It seems that you can set up only one footer for both sending the e-mails and displaying in the archive.
This causes trouble because the data a incoherent now.
I would like to stop the newsletter-footer from displaying in the archive / on the website and use it only for sending out the e-mails (there it is necessary)
I have tried to remove

Code: Select all

<!-- INCLUDE newsletter_footer.html -->

from templates newsletter_archive.html and newsletter_email.html and some more from newsletter_view_html.html and newsletter_view_plain.html (Styles updated, cleared cache in ACP each time) but the footer still shows up on the website for example at URLs like example.com/newsletter_email.php?n=4&e=17.
It is displayed like "old newsletter text" + "new footer line".

I don't dare changing "newsletter_sending.htm" or the .phps - can you please help me?
Thanks a lot!

Hello,
did you refresh the template things on ACP Styles page?

You have to remove:

Code: Select all

         <div class="signature">
            {EMAIL_SENDER}<br />
            {EMAIL_SENDER_SIGNATURE}
         </div>

and:

Code: Select all

            <hr />
            <strong>{L_NEWSLETTER_FOOTER}</strong><br />
            <hr />
            <strong>{L_NEWSLETTER_EMAIL_SENDER}</strong><br />

insteat of the other line.

Bye Martin

Hello Martin,

thank you for the feedback - I'm al little late, but I'll try it again now.
(Currently my newsletter is blacklisted because I don't manage to send it via smtp @ 1&1 but thats another problem).

Hello MArtin,

thanks for asking again. Unfortunately the problem hasn't been fixed yet:
I managed to delete the signatures form the online-archive - but now they have also disappeared from the real e-mails the users receive.
Is it the same style-file that is used both for composing the e-mail and for displaying it on my site? Is it possible to somehow use a signature for the e-mails that are sent out - but to let it out for the "newsletters" when displayed in the archive?

Btw.: For deleting I had to additionaly remove the lines you mentioned above, otherwise the signature-lines/footer lines kept appearing,
Maybe I deleted a little too much now - because I am still not sure, in which files this must be done.

newsletter_email.html (ok in online-display, not ok in E-Mail because signatures are missing)

Code: Select all

<div class="content">
            {L_NEWSLETTER_WELCOME},<br /><br />
            {TEXT}
         </div>
         <!--
         <div class="signature">
            {NEWSLETTER_FOOTER}
         </div>
         -->
         <!--
         <div class="signature">
            {EMAIL_SENDER}<br />
            {EMAIL_SENDER_SIGNATURE}
         </div>
         -->
      </div>
<!--
      <dl class="postprofile">
         <dt>{L_LEGEND}</dt>
         <dd>
            <strong>{L_NEWSLETTER_EMAIL_DATE}</strong><br />
            <hr />
            <strong>{L_NEWSLETTER_NAME}: {L_NEWSLETTER_EMAIL_SUBJECT}</strong><br />
            <hr />
            <strong>{L_NEWSLETTER_EMAIL_TITLE}</strong><br />
            <br />
            <strong>{L_NEWSLETTER_EMAIL_TEXT}</strong><br />
            <hr />
            <strong>{L_NEWSLETTER_FOOTER}</strong><br />
            <hr />
            <strong>{L_NEWSLETTER_EMAIL_SENDER}</strong><br />
         </dd>
      </dl>
-->

newsletter_view_plain.html (not yet changed because of the problems above)

Thank you!

Hello Martin,

thanks for your quick response!
When I add my data in a hardcoded way to the .txt, it works fine.
Using {NEWSLETTER_FOOTER} for the sent email doesn't work, as far as I've found out.
Thank you very much!
