Using more BBcodes

by katib » Sat Aug 21, 2010 1:40 pm

Hi Martin
I installed the Mod, I noticed that the page newsletter_sending.php?mode=send has only fow bbcoodes:
fontcolor, font size, url, img, u, i, B

So is it possible to use all BBcodes installed on my board? ( I am using Advanced bbcode Box 3 ( aka ABBC3 ) from http://www.mssti.com/phpbb3/ )
Can I format my message in this advanced bbcode box, than paste it into newsletter ?

Hello katib,
I've added the basic BBCode for text formating and to add urls and images.
Which do you want to have included else?
How should this content been displayed at the e-mails, both HTML and Plain/Text?

You can try Copy&Paste. I haven't ried it by now. But will your users be happy about it?

Well, there are a lot of fancy bbcodes, but right now, I am in need of

Code: Select all

[align=right][/align]

or this:

Code: Select all

[dir=rtl][/dir]

Basically, I want to align text right as Araabic i RTL language like Hebrew
I tried adding dir="rtl" to <html> tag in newsletter_html.txt
But didont work :(
Arabic aligned left looks ugly
Any idea?

Hello katib,
I think you have to customize the email.css . This should been with a arabic translation for the MOD.
Sorry, I don't have own experience in right-to-left.

Thanks Martin
I solved the Right-To-Left issue by adding a style="text-align:right;" to every html tag

<h2 class="email" style="text-align:right;">{NAME}</h2>
<h1 class="email" style="text-align:right;">{SUBJECT}</h1>
<br />
<div class="panel"><div class="inner">
<span class="corners-top"><span></span></span>
<h2 class="email" style="text-align:right;">{L_NEWSLETTER_WELCOME} {USERNAME},</h2>
<br />
<p class="email" style="text-align:right;">{MESSAGE}</p>
<br />
<p class="email" style="text-align:right;">{FOOTER}</p>
<br />
<p class="email" style="text-align:right;">{EMAIL_SENDER}</p>
<p class="email" style="text-align:right;">{EMAIL_SENDER_SIGNATURE}</p>
<span class="corners-bottom"><span></span></span>
</div></div>
<br />
<p class="email" style="text-align:right;">{BOARD_SIGNATURE}<br />
{BOARD_CONTACT}</p>
</div>

Maybe there is a better way to do it
Why the newsletter didnot inherit the {S_CONTENT_DIRECTION}" value ?

Hello katib,
thank you very much for the feedback!

I will add {S_CONTENT_DIRECTION} support or something else to the next release.

BTW: The email.css advice was wrong.

Hello Martin
Martin Truckenbrodt wrote:BTW: The email.css advice was wrong.

The email.css has no effect on newsletter formating
For example, those css classes:

Code: Select all

<div class="panel"><div class="inner">
<span class="corners-top"><span></span></span>

are not parsed !!! has no effect !!
Maybe the following code:

Code: Select all

<style type="text/css">
@import url("{U_CSS}");
@import url("{U_CSS_EMAIL}");
</style>

is not working. email providers like gmail or hotmail cant importe them !!

Thanks Martin
I had no luck with email.ss, so I ended using inline css into newsletter-html.txt directely
Mainely, I used:
<p style="direction: {S_CONTENT_DIRECTION}; ...">

Hello katib,
I will use your feedback to improve the Add On with the next version. At the moment I'm waiting for the validation results for the topical version 1.0.4.
Thanks a lot!
