I'm just installing this modification - and I get to this stage:
"There is a PHP install file that needs to be run in order to complete the installation.
To run it point your browser to, for example, domain.tld/phpBB3/digests_install.php"
I'm unclear on exactly what this means - if I use my browser to go that address, all I get is an error message. Is it not an address and I should be looking elsewhere? Or is there some other error? Or is it doing what is meant to, and just returning an error message?
Any help would be appreciated.

Look at my last reply. If you copy the files correctly, a digests_install.php file will appear in your phpBB root folder.
It sounds like you should pay more attention to the installation instructions. Don't forget to make file changes and to read the /contrib/readme.html file too.
