Installation Problem

While trying to install via AutoMod, AutoMod said:

That is a AutoMOD bug. Copy the included files manually and remove the copy tag from the install file, or do the file edits manually.

After making the manual changes, I got about half way though the installation instructions:

Copy the install directory to your forum's root path and run install/install.php.
Go to ACP > System. Under Module management in the left field select User Control Panel.
In the right field select Private messages.
In the drop down menu next to the "Add module" button select PM Search and hit "Add module".
Then enable that module and purge your forum cache.
Go to ACP > Users and groups > Groups permissions, add the 'Can use PM search' permission to the right groups.

...and, then, ran into a problem.

When I went to ACP>System>User Control Panel>UCP-> Privat messages>

...and then got to the drop-down menu, "PM search" was not displayed.

How can I resolve this?

Are your forum in English? And if not, did you do the language edits for your language?

After manually checking the installation file's instructions, for language/en/acp/common.php, I realized that I had neglected to ftp the altered file up to my server.

After I did ftp, however, the appearance of my board index changed.

It was probably due to a combination of things, but, as a result, I restored my original common.php file and, hence, the appearance of my board index.

One of the problems that occurred was that the change had made the helpful stats, at the bottom of my home page, disappear.

So, I wanted them back.

There were other changes that did not seem intuitive or user-friendly - like words showing up in between numerous curly-brackets, like: { }.

In addition, the pm search module still did not show up.

So, like I said, by returning to the original common.php file, I, essentially, restored the appearance of my board.

All those changes where not what I bargained for, when trying to install pm search.

I don't know what else to say.

It sounds like I have the same/similar issue.

I am using prosilver and english and I cannot get the PM search box to appear in the UCP.

Any ideas?

Make sure you have enabled the pm-search module in ACP > System > Module management > UCP > private messages. And that you have uploaded the right files with the correct changes.

Feeling bad :( about the way things went, I decided to give PM Search another try.

So, I downloaded the mod, again, and noticed that there were prosilver and subsilver2 styles.

But, I am using acid tech tiger, a subsilver2-based style.

Can the enclosed files for subsilver2 be adapted for acid tech tiger?

If "yes", then how? Which file contains the instructions for this specific task?

There are template instructions for Subsilver2 in contrib/subsilver2.xml that should work with most Subsilver2 based styles.
The template files in root/styles/subsilver2/template/ should work for most Subsilver2 based styles.

I'm using acid tech tiger (subsilver2-based style)

I copied:

i) \root\styles\subsilver2\template\ucp_pm_search.html; and,

ii) \root\styles\subsilver2\template\ucp_pm_search.html, into:

/phpbb3/styles/acidtech_tiger/template/.

Then, I followed the instructions in \pm_search-1.0.3\contrib\subsilver2.xml as if they were referring to files located in /styles/acidtech_tiger/template/.

I purged the ACP cache.

Then I went to my UCP, but could not find anything that looks even remotely related to a pm search.

Any suggestions?

There was no pm-search module, in ACP > System > Module management > UCP > private messages.

You need to find it in the drop-down menu next to the "Add module" button and add it first.
