Making This Work With Custom Style

by rottenpixies » Fri Aug 16, 2013 3:15 pm

I can't seem to get this to work with my style. I'm using skymiles_red. All it did was change it to say "new messages", but when I get a PM it doens't blink or even change to anything else. If I click on new messages after I get a PM, it will than display "new messages, 1 unread message", but it only displays that once I've clicked on my inbox.

I installed this with automod. I also tried uninstalling it since it wasn't working, and it did not change my inbox back to regular. It still says "new messages". Can you please help me with either uninstalling this properly or getting it to work on my style? I think I need manual instruction for installing it on a custom style but I can't find it anywhere.

First check that all edits have been removed from your files. The installation package contains install_mod.xml file, read it please.
After uninstallation by AutoMode (have there been any errors recorded?), you have to run the file install_rbpm.php in your browser (eg. http://your_board.com/install_rbpm.php). Did you do it?

I was able to get it uninstalled properly, by going through the install file and manually uninstalling all the edits. Thank you for that! I am going to try and manually install this.

In the last edit it says: Open: styles/prosilver/template/overall_header.html

If I am doing this for a custom style, I assume that I would go into styles/MYCUSTOMSTYLE/template/over_header.html, instead. Is that correct? I am new to phpbb and I know some of the styles still use prosilver or subsilver even once customer style is loaded.

So my question is, to manual install, do I still make the edits to pro/subsilver or just change any manual edit to be done on my customer style folder? The root folder still just goes in the root phpbb folder, correct?

Make edits for your style (applies overall_header.html)

Copy this files: jquery-1.7.2.min.js and jquery-blink.js
to styles/your_style/template directory.

I have TwilightBB installed right now. It's a subsilver2 theme.

As I understand, this mod only works with default themes, right?

I want to modify the buttons on my twilightbb forum, and remove buttons and add text instead of buttons on header.

http://forum.civilization-tr.com you can see buttons here on top, i want to remove them and add text links.
If I do that, will I able to use this mod?

Also, I have kiss portal installed
I can get all the necessary buttons on top as links on a left sidebar block.
Can I add this blinking pm in a block with a html code or something?
Thanks in response.

No, this mod works with custom styles also. Sometimes you have to make additional edits, such as a custom style has own overall_header.html file. Also you have to copy files to the right directorys of your style.

Just focus on the code of Private Messages (overall_header.html file), don't remove it in any case.
