Hmm, just make edits as I wrote in this post :).

So I'll write again: Open your overall_header.html file and Find part of code (only code of RBPM Mod which I show U, which start from <!-- IF S_DISPLAY_PM --> &bull;).
Open: styles/prosilver/template/overall_header.html
Find:
Code: Select all
<!-- IF S_DISPLAY_PM --> &bull;
<!-- IF S_RBPM_ENABLE and S_RBPM_INSC_ENABLE and S_USER_NEW_PRIVMSG and S_RBPM_ENABLE_BACKGROUND -->
<span style="background:rgba({S_RBPM_BACKGROUND_R},{S_RBPM_BACKGROUND_G},{S_RBPM_BACKGROUND_B},{S_RBPM_BACKGROUND_TRANSP}); padding: 3px 0px 3px 7px; border: {S_RBPM_BORDER_WIDTH} {S_RBPM_BORDER_STYLE} {S_RBPM_BORDER_COLOUR}; border-right: 0px; -webkit-border-radius: {S_RBPM_BORDER_RADIUS}; -khtml-border-radius: {S_RBPM_BORDER_RADIUS}; -moz-border-radius: {S_RBPM_BORDER_RADIUS}; border-radius: {S_RBPM_BORDER_RADIUS}; -webkit-border-radius-topright: 0px; -khtml-border-radius-topright: 0px; -moz-border-radius-topright: 0px; border-radius-topright: 0px; -webkit-border-radius-bottomright: 0px; -khtml-border-radius-bottomright: 0px; -moz-border-radius-bottomright: 0px; border-radius-bottomright: 0px;">
<!-- ELSE -->
<span style=" background-color: none">
<!-- ENDIF -->
<!-- IF S_RBPM_ENABLE and S_USER_NEW_PRIVMSG -->
<span class="blink" style="color:{S_RBPM_COLOR}; font:{S_RBPM_ITALIC} {S_RBPM_BOLD} {S_RBPM_SIZE} {S_RBPM_FAMILY}; letter-spacing:{S_RBPM_SPACING}; text-transform:{S_RBPM_TRANSFORM}; text-shadow: {S_RBPM_SHADOWH} {S_RBPM_SHADOWV} {S_RBPM_SHADOW_BLUR} {S_RBPM_SHADOW_COLOUR}; text-decoration:{S_RBPM_DECORATION};">
{S_USER_NEW_PRIVMSG}
</span>
<!-- ELSE -->
<strong>{S_USER_NEW_PRIVMSG}</strong>
<!-- ENDIF -->
<a href="{U_PRIVATEMSGS}">
<!-- IF S_RBPM_INSC_ENABLE and S_USER_NEW_PRIVMSG -->
<span class="blink" style="color:{S_RBPM_INSC_COLOR}; font:{S_RBPM_ITALIC} {S_RBPM_VARIANT} {S_RBPM_BOLD} {S_RBPM_SIZE} {S_RBPM_FAMILY}; letter-spacing:{S_RBPM_SPACING}; text-transform:{S_RBPM_TRANSFORM}; text-shadow: {S_RBPM_SHADOWH} {S_RBPM_SHADOWV} {S_RBPM_SHADOW_BLUR} {S_RBPM_INSC_SHADOW_COLOUR}; text-decoration:{S_RBPM_DECORATION};">
{PRIVATE_MESSAGE_INFO}
</span>
<!-- IF S_RBPM_ENABLE_UNREAD and PRIVATE_MESSAGE_INFO_UNREAD -->
<span style="color:{S_RBPM_UNREAD_COLOR}">
<!-- IF S_RBPM_ENABLE_UNREAD_BLINK -->
<span class="blink">&amp; {PRIVATE_MESSAGE_INFO_UNREAD}</span>
<!-- ELSE -->
&amp; {PRIVATE_MESSAGE_INFO_UNREAD}
<!-- ENDIF -->
</span>
<!-- ELSE -->
<!-- ENDIF -->
<!-- ELSE -->
{PRIVATE_MESSAGE_INFO}
<!-- IF S_RBPM_ENABLE_UNREAD and PRIVATE_MESSAGE_INFO_UNREAD -->
&amp; {PRIVATE_MESSAGE_INFO_UNREAD}
<!-- ELSE -->
<!-- ENDIF -->
<!-- ENDIF -->
</a>
</span>
<!-- ENDIF -->

Next replace code found by You with the code which I have prepared for U.
Replace with:
Code: Select all
<!-- IF S_DISPLAY_PM --> &bull;
<!-- IF S_RBPM_ENABLE and S_RBPM_INSC_ENABLE and (S_USER_NEW_PRIVMSG or (S_USER_NEW_PRIVMSG == 0 and S_USER_UNREAD_PRIVMSG > 2)) and S_RBPM_ENABLE_BACKGROUND -->

Please read the instructions that are in this post and follow them carefully. It is realy easy, only two files U have to edits.
So find code and replace to other code, and find code and add after (don't replace) other code. Finally copy the file rbpm.scc on your server.
Don't forget to refresh templates and purge cache in ACP.

Again, I appreciate your help, and I do understand the edits you have posted above.

But you're not answering the question, which is: should I remove the previous MOD before I add the new edits, OR should I just keep the old Mod in place?

When instruction of editing says "replace", just replace the all code.
When instruction of editing says "Add after" just add after of indicated code snippet (don't remove).

Not getting a clear answer to my question, I went ahead and made the edits (replace in one file and add after in the other file), added the rbpm.css to the theme subdirectory, purged the cache and refreshed the templace.

I did not remove the previous Mod (you never answered that question).

But nothing seems to have changed. I'm not sure what these edits were supposed to do. I can't see any change.

I send a PM from one user to another. As the recipient, the txt is blinking red as I log on. I then go into the PM area, but I leave the PM area without having read the PM.

I then log off, and then log on. When I log on the second time, the text is NOT blinking even though the PM is still unread. That is what this whole problem is about.

In phpBB2 the red dot would blink until I actually read the PM (there was a phhpBB2 Mod for that).

Insert yours overall_header.html and stylesheet.cssfiles here (in [code] tag) please.
I'll check it if you let.
And test account of your board please.

I hope you don't mind I sent you the files and forum information by PM as I'd rather not have the overall_header.html file public. It's a work in progress.

Edit of files looks good.
This may be important - what browser are you using??

I can't see your boards (Error: 403) so I can't log in.

That's odd. I normally use Chrome, but I have (and can) access the forum using both Firefox and IE8 (still on my computer). I just tried all three. No problem with the browsers. Can you access the old forum (same URL, just use phpBB2).

Can you not see the home page of the forum at all, or just have issues when trying to register an account? I show no new members since I sent you the files.

We have had a number of people log in and post in the last few hours. The only other thing I can think of is if your IP address might be banned. We get our fair share of spammers and when needed, we ban IP addresses. However, the Admin/Moderator logs show no banning since I sent you the files.

Very odd. The directory is 755 and the index.php is 644. No one else has reported a similar issue. And the .htaccess file is as it came with the distribution.

Can you PM me your IP address and I will see if it's on the list (and remove it). We ban IP's based on spam, and while most of the banned IP's are in places like China, India and Pakistan, it's possible there might be banned IP's from your location.

But even dynamic IPs are pretty constant (unless you have dial-up). I've had the same IP for about three months. If nothing else, chances are the first two numbers stay the same and I could compare that to our ban list.

No one else has reported problems accessing the forum. That's the only explanation I can think of. Can you access the home page of the domain?
